I'm in the locker room getting ready for the state championship game. My team did great this season and I'm confident that we can pull through for this game. I'm extra happy because all of my friends and my boyfriend of two years are all going to be there.
I'm straightening my foot brace when someone holds onto both of my shoulders, massaging them.
"You'll do great out there, baby. I don't know much about basketball but I know you'll rock out there! Just do what you always do!" it was my boyfriend, Shawn.
I turn around to hug him tightly. "Thank you so much! I'm so happy you're here," I mumble into his shoulder.
"I wouldn't miss this for the world," he pulls away and smiles hard. "Well, let me get out of here before your coach rips my head off," he chuckles, pecking my lips. "I'll be in the crowd cheering you on the whole time! Even when you're not on the court I'll still cheer you on! Good luck, baby," he says, walking backwards out of the locker room.
-last 25 seconds of the game-
The team we're going against just made a basket tying up the score 68-68. Going into overtime is the last thing I want to do. My team takes the ball out with 25 seconds left. The point guard rushes down the court and I get open.
She passes me that ball for an open three- point shot. I catch it and shoot the ball.
As soon as I shoot it, I run under the basket for the rebound just in case I didn't make it. The crowd erupts in cheers as the ball falls into the basket changing the score to 68-71.
I look at the bleachers to see all my friends and Shawn jumping and hollering. "That's my baby!" I hear Shawn yell.
We play our best defense for the last few seconds. Once the buzzer goes off the crowd starts hollering our team name and waving pom poms with my school colors on them. I scored the winning shot in the state championship.
Once I take team pictures and get congratulated for the big win Shawn comes running up to me. He picks me up and spins me around.
"I knew you could do it!" He beams at me before passionately kissing me.
