"Time to wake up" someone nugged at her arms. Her head hurt like someone had slammed it against a wall. Her eyelids were heavy but she managed to open them. Yuri was staring down at her, he was wearing a black shirt and black trousers with black sneakers. The only thing that wasn't black, was the sliver rings he wore on every finger. She was on a bed in a room that only one window; that was shut, and one a door. Yuri was looking her expectantly, maybe he was waiting for her to scream and try to fight him but she wasn't dumb enough to not believe they were probably bodyguards somewhere outside that door.
"Yes?" she wanted him to stop looking at her like that.
"We have somewhere to be" he stretched out his arm for her to take a hold of but she ignored him and sat up on her own.
"Aren't you going to ask questions?" he was observing her again. She thought it was because he had creative eye but she realized it was because he was just manipulative and was just trying to understand his next victim.
"I don't care" she was over being kidnapped. Out of everything that happened today, Yuri not being who she thought he was, hurt her the most. The universe gave her the most perfect man she could ask for then made him a complete psychopath and human trafficker. Maybe they would sell her to somebody nice enough to allow her paint at least one hour a day.
"Nothing bad is going to happen to you, you're safe" he had to be joking
"oh really? I didn't safe when you pointed a gun at my head. If you want to sell me or kill me, get it over with quickly. I'm not interested in this back and forth" her words were blunt and loud. She hated seeing his face. She never wanted to talk to him again.
"We just wanted you to comply" he said it calmly like he was talking about taking a walk in the park. She said nothing else. He sounded so calm about it and it made her want to slam his head against the concrete wall. When he was sure she wasn't going to say anything, he led her out the door.
The entire hallway was lined with rooms with numbers on them. The floor was concrete and so were the walls. There was at least one guard in front of each door with a gun that she knew was loaded. The guards all wore black too. They walked out of the the building that was only of many buildings that made up the base they were currently walking through. She didn't even want to start want to imagine who Yuri worked for. She could tell that they were very successful because the base was huge. She could count at least ten buildings and that didn't account for the ones she couldn't see. They were all gray and enforced with a metal dome-like exterior. Asides Yuri and guards. She didn't see anyone else.
Yuri put his finger print on the keypad of a massive building. She was sure this was the headquarters because of the added number of guards.
She was sat down at a table with two extra chairs, one which was occupied by Yuri and the other by a man she did not know. He looked at with caution, she wanted to ask him to chain her up if he was so scared of her.
"I am sure you are confused on why you are here" the man had the same height and lean muscles as Yuri but he was balding and his facial hair was overgrown. He had the same dimpled chin she had seen somewhere before. She wasn't going to have mind games played on her. She opted for silence.
"Your mother is not who you think she is. She works for a very shady organization that traffic drugs and people along with your childhood best friends' parents" he says gauging for her reaction
"oh and you're the organization that kidnaps girls and locks them up in basements? I'm failing to see how this makes sense" they both blinked at her.
"We are a part of the government organization that handles cooperations like the one your mother runs. We take care of the dirty work, to cut the story short " the man intertwines his fingers together.
"So you expect me to believe my mother that I have known all my life is a crazy drug lord and trafficker without proof?" she could help the laughs from escaping. Maybe she was still in the party but she drank too much to the point of hallucination.
"Is this proof enough for you" some body guard brought a laptop to the table with images of her mom. The first one was a little bit blurry but she could make out the silhouette of her mom in a room full of her friends' parents and other men in masks and bags of drugs. The man just kept on scrolling and most of the pictures were similar with her mom, a bunch of men, drugs and underage girls on collars. She pinched herself hard because was what you do when you're dreaming. She kept trying but she wasn't waking up.
Her chest was tightening and she couldn't look at the pictures anymore. So all the important moments her mom had missed was because she was out there committing crimes? Her mom was enslaving young girls to be prostitutes? Everything about her whole life has been a lie? What was she going to do now? She balled her hands into fists like she wanted to will herself to stop the tears. She didn't even know why she was crying, she wasn't the one that committed the crime, she wasn't the one probably going to jail.
"so what do you want from me?" her voice was shaky and higher pitched than before. She hated that they saw a part of her weakness.
"we want you to spy on your mother and tell us everything. We need to take her down now" the said with all seriousness that she resisted the urge to flinch in her chair.
"And if I tell you my answer is no?" her voice was still wobbly but sounded more assertive.
"then your brother and friends will die or maybe we will just harm them a bit" the man seemed satisfied with his answer and smiled.
"I hope you both rot in hell, especially you" she made a point to stare right into Yuri's eyes with all the hate she could muster up. He looked very uncomfortable under her gaze and she glad about it.
"Yes or no Marcy?" the man asked her coolly.
"What other choice do I have? Why did you pick me?" she stared back at the man even though she only wanted to cry, they didn't deserve her tears.
"Your mother is head after all, we cut the head of the snake.Welcome to the team, my name is Robert" he smiled at her then left the room. Yuri stared her again with hurt like she kidnapped him and it wasn't the other way around. He didn't get to act hurt, he made himself her enemy and now he has to live with the consequences.
