3 years later
I sidle up on my beloved sofa, running my fingers over the fabric of the worn cushion, happily reminiscing of days long gone. I'm hiding away from Leo for five minutes to eat chocolate down here in the bunker. I know it's cruel hiding it away down here but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do. It's not just me, I've seen him hide his favourite snacks down here too. We can't keep anything safe from our monsters in this house.
The kids go to school these days, it's what they wanted. Leo wanted to home school them but in the end he gave them what they all wanted. They all go to the same private school, all at different levels. Nico and Gabe will be lucky if they aren't expelled by the end of the term though. They drive Leo up the wall as I mostly sit and smirk as he tries to tell his replica's off for all the things he once did himself. When I say replica's I really mean it, people gasp when they see the three of them together, normally both being dragged somewhere under their father's huge arms, but he loves every minute of it, I see him turning his back on them so he can laugh without them seeing, I see him in all their little quirks. Bella and Luca are so clever, so well behaved, I like to think our eldest get it from me but Leo scoffs when I tease him about it.
I hear the elevator come to a stop and a moment later, my husband strides toward me. He picks me up like a doll and straddles me on top of him, then he eats a big chunk of my chocolate bar before I can stop him.
"You're asking for trouble Romano" I smirk.
He pulls up my skirt and unbuckles his pants to free himself.
"Already?" I ask.
He only took me in the laundry room an hour ago.
"Don't know what to do with all my spare time, figured I might as well do what I love best" he says slipping himself inside of me, as I hiss about his size before we both moan. We can take our time a bit more these days, but he never lasts all that long. What he does have is a never ending supply of hard ons, he can go again as soon as he's finished and two rounds of orgasm's later, we both shout and moan the bunker walls down as we explode and come head to head sucking in air and calming our heart rates."You ready to get this show on the road baby?"
I sigh knowing I can't put it off any longer.
"I'm with you every step of way, always will be Blythe" he says kissing my nose.
"Call them, tell them family meeting in thirty" I say as he smiles back at me.
"Atta girl" he winks before rushing to the shower with me under his arms like I weigh nothing.
"Caveman" I squeal.Mattia and Aurora, sit in front of us with looks of confusion plastered on to their faces. We only ever call a family meeting when something major needs discussing, which to be fair is a lot in our crazy family. I lean over to take Aurora's hand, tears shine in my eyes as I suck in air to hold them back.
"I've found them Aurora, I've found our parents" i say before the damn bursts and tears leave my eyes.
We sit and watch as Mattia pulls her in close, deep silent sobs heaving through her chest and tears track down Mattia's own face. There reaction much the same as ours when we discovered what we did yesterday.Leo and I take them down to the bunker, both of them now in our circle of trust. Mattia and Aurora have been through the mill these past two years. He still looks at me with respect and trepidation sometimes, just as I probably look at him with anger. I've mostly forgiven him now though. He married my sister and the baby girl in the carrier and the bump in her belly show how things are going for them these days. It's not my story to tell but he got everything that was coming his way.
"How's Jess?" I ask.
"She's a dream" Mattia says as he looks down at her. He kisses Aurora's head and puts his hand on her belly in a comforting gesture. I'll give him his dews he's a good husband and father to my sister and niece and soon to be nephew these days.We stand in front of the main control centre. And I relay the story back to them. I almost feel silly thinking back to last week as I was tidying up the table after Leo had messed me up on it. My plastic wallets scattered over the top, housing the wrapping paper from all those gifts I opened years ago. But this time, I was viewing them from a different angle. I had pulled them all out to start disposing of some stuff. When you have four kids you realise you can't hang on to every shred of life you've had before. But, looking at the paper from this angle, bent over and my head tilted to the side, well, it gave me a new perspective. It wasn't a fancy design, it was land. It was the outline of a piece of land. The same repetition through the entire gift wrap showing the same piece of land.
