taylors pov:

The morning light was gently spilling across the bed, and I was warm and comfortable, tucked in close to Travis. The quiet felt perfect, like we were in this peaceful little world of our own. It was a feeling I hadn’t had in a long time—everything felt calm, like all the noise of the outside world had been left far behind.

Then, my phone started buzzing on the nightstand, shaking me out of that blissful moment. I reached over, groggy, and saw Austin’s name flashing across the screen. My heart dropped a little, wondering if I should let it go to voicemail, but I knew he’d just keep calling. I’d been sure I turned off my location, so why…? Then all of a sudden, realization struck, I must have forgotten to turn it off for Austin. Reluctantly, I picked up.

“Hey, Austin,” I said as nonchalantly as possible, trying to sound casual. “What’s up?”

He didn’t even bother with small talk. “Taylor, why the fuck are you in Kansas City?”

My heart skipped a beat, and I glanced at Travis, who was now watching me, raising his eyebrows in curiosity. I scrambled for a response, trying to buy myself time. “Kansas City?” I let out a fake laugh, hoping it sounded convincing. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m, uh… I’m in LA. What gave you that idea?”

Austin was quiet for a second before he spoke, unimpressed. “Taylor, I can literally see you’re in Kansas City right now. If you don’t tell me what’s going on, I’ll just call Mom and Dad.”

I bit my lip, feeling my cheeks flush. Of course, he’d notice if I was somewhere unexpected. My stomach dropped. There was no way I wanted to deal with Mom and Dad’s inevitable flood of questions, so I sighed, giving in. “Alright, fine… I’m in Kansas City.”

"Well yes, I know that sherlock," Austin sighed in exasperation. “Why? What’s going on?”

"Nothing Austin," I admitted, glancing over at Travis, who was smiling now, clearly amused by my failed attempt at a cover-up. "it’s not a big deal.”

“Not a big deal?” Austin echoed, and I could practically see him raising his eyebrow through the phone. “Taylor, what’s going on? Why are you in Kansas City?”

I took a deep breath, suddenly feeling a little nervous. Travis must have sensed it because he put his hand on my shoulder, giving me a gentle squeeze, his eyes warm and understanding. I looked down at the phone, debating what to say next, but before I could come up with an answer, Travis held out his hand, gesturing for the phone. I hesitated for a second, then passed it to him, silently hoping this wouldn’t go sideways.

“Hey, Austin,” Travis said smoothly, his voice calm and friendly. "It's Travis."

There was a pause on the other end, the kind of silence that practically screamed disbelief. “…Travis? Like, the Travis Kelce, the Travis Kelce who blasted my sister on his podcast?”

Travis chuckled. “Yep, that’s me.”

Austin was quiet for a beat, but then he jumped in, his tone serious. “Alright, Travis—why is my sister in Kansas City with you? What are your intentions?”

Travis’s smile softened, and he glanced at me reassuringly. “My intentions? I care about her. A lot. She means the world to me, and I’m not here to play around and I want to make her happy. I want to hopefully take our relationship furrher in the future if your sister is okay with that”

I felt heat rising to my cheeks as his husky voice spoke in a calm way.

Austin’s tone remained firm. “I get that you’re serious about her now, but she’s been through a lot, alright? And she’s my sister. So if you ever hurt her… I promise, you’ll be hearing from me. And from every single person who cares about her. And we won't hold back.”

Travis held back a laugh, nodding along as if he completely understood. “I get it. And honestly, that’s how it should be,” he replied, his tone sincere but also filled woth nerves. “I’d never do anything to hurt her. She means a lot to me.”

There was a pause, and I felt a swell of gratitude as I watched Travis handle my brother’s protectiveness with so much respect. Finally, Austin exhaled, seeming to relax, though I could still hear the edge in his voice. “Good. Because I’m serious.”

Travis handed the phone back to me looking like he was about to pass out from nerves, and I took it, a mix of nerves and relief still buzzing in my chest. I could hear Austin sigh on the other end, processing everything.

“So… this is serious?” he finally asked, his tone softening.

“Yes,” I said, unable to keep the smile out of my voice. “It is.”

Austin sighed again, though I could hear the hint of a smile in his voice. “Alright, but don’t think I won’t check in with you. And don’t forget—you still owe me a full update. Love you Teffy, talk to you later.”

“Deal and love you to Austin,” I replied, shaking my head, laughing as I hung up. I looked back at Travis, who was still smiling, clearly amused by the whole ordeal. He reached over, pulling me closer, and I relaxed into him, feeling like I’d passed some sort of test, like my family knowing about us made it all feel even more real.

“Guess that’s one way to meet the family,” he joked, pressing a kiss to my forehead.

I laughed, feeling a warmth blossom in my chest. “Only my brother would track my location and call me out like that.”

He chuckled, his hand brushing gently along my back. “I don’t blame him. He cares about you.”

I snuggled closer to him, feeling more at home than ever. “I think you passed, though,” I teased, glancing up at him. “You didn’t run.”

He smiled, shaking his head. “No, but i almost did, he'svery intimidatingand quite scary actually,” he said laughing, his eyes meeting mine.

He pulled me close, his hand resting on my shoulder. “Guess we’re officially out of hiding.”

I laughed, feeling happier than I had in ages. “I’m okay with that.”
