The following weeks were a confusing mix of emotions for you. Your realization about Hanni had opened a door that you couldn't close, even if you weren't sure what lay on the other side. Your feelings for Hanni remained unspoken, an uncharted territory that you were both eager and terrified to explore.

As the campus continued to buzz with life, you found yourself hyper-aware of Hanni's presence. Every shared laugh felt more significant, every touch of your hands more electric. Yet, you said nothing. It was easier to keep things as they were than to risk altering their friendship. And so, the days went by, with you caught in a delicate dance of half-formed thoughts and unspoken words.

One Thursday afternoon, you and Hanni met up at both of your favorite coffee shop just off campus. It was a quaint little place with an assortment of mismatched chairs and a quiet, cozy atmosphere. As usual, the two of you grabbed the drinks and settled into a corner booth. Hanni was animatedly talking about an upcoming event of her photography club was hosting, her eyes lighting up as she described the details.

"Y/N I am super excited to use my new camera" Hanni said, a wide smile spreading across her face. "I'm going to be one of the featured photographers this year!"

Your heart swelled with pride at Hanni's excitement. "That's amazing, Phammy! I can't wait to see your work showcased. You're going to blow everyone away." You felt it again, the thumping of your heart as you saw Hanni's smile

Hanni blushed slightly at the compliment. "I hope so! Oh, by the way, I invited Nayeon to come check it out too. She said she'll be really interested in photography, so I thought it'd be cool if she joined."

At the mention of Nayeon, your stomach twisted slightly. It wasn't the first time you had felt a pang of discomfort when Hanni mentioned Nayeon, or anyone else for that matter. But before you could make sense of it, Hanni continued, her tone casual.

"Actually, I think she's bringing one of her friends along. What's her name... um, Chaeyoung, I think? She's into photography too."

You nodded, trying to mask the subtle shift in your mood. You weren't sure why it bothered you to hear that Nayeon and her friend would be there. It wasn't as if you had any claim over Hanni, but there was an inexplicable tightness in your chest, a feeling you hadn't been prepared for.

The day of the photography event arrived, and the small gallery on campus was buzzing with activity. The lights were dimmed, creating a warm ambiance, while soft music played in the background.

Photographs lined the walls, each one telling a story of its own. Hanni had dressed up for the occasion, wearing a white dress that highlighted her figure and made her look effortlessly stunning.

You couldn't help but admire her from across the room as she spoke with the other photographers

You couldn't help but admire her from across the room as she spoke with the other photographers.

As you wandered through the gallery, you occasionally glanced over to where Hanni was standing, greeting guests and explaining the stories behind her photos. A crowd began to form around her as she shared anecdotes about her work, her laughter filling the air and drawing people closer. You noticed how some of the guests, especially a tall guy you hadn't seen before, seemed particularly interested in what Hanni had to say.

The guy leaned in closer, smiling as he spoke to Hanni. She laughed in response, and they seemed to be hitting it off.

The sight triggered a strange, unfamiliar heat rising in your chest—jealousy. It wasn't a feeling you recognized immediately, but there it was, unmistakable and raw. You felt a possessiveness you couldn't explain, a tight knot forming in your stomach as you watched Hanni give someone else the kind of attention that had always been just YOURS.

Trying to shake off the feeling, you turned your focus back to the photographs on the wall. But the images blurred before your eyes as your thoughts kept drifting back to Hanni and the stranger who was now making her laugh.

You tried to convince yourself it was nothing, that you were overreacting, but you couldn't ignore the sting that came with seeing Hanni's eyes light up for someone else.

As if sensing your distress, Hanni glanced over in your direction, your eyes meeting for a brief moment. Hanni's expression softened, and she excused herself from the conversation with the guy to make her way over to you.

She walked slowly, she was elegant like a beautiful white swan.

"Hey, you okay?" Hanni asked, her voice low with concern. "You seemed a little... out of it."

"Yeah, I'm fine," you replied quickly, forcing a smile. "Just got lost in thought, I guess

Hanni's gaze lingered on you, as if searching for an answer that you were not giving. "You sure? You've seemed a bit distant lately. If there's something bothering you, you know you can tell me."

The sincerity in Hanni's voice made your heart ache. There were a hundred things you wanted to say, a hundred ways you wanted to explain the unfamiliar turmoil inside you. But you were not ready to put a voice to it, not when you weren't even sure what it meant.

"I'm really okay, Phammy," you said, as you the tone of your voice gentler this time. "It's just been a lot to process lately."

Hanni seemed to accept your answer, though her concern didn't fade entirely. She reached out and squeezed your hand. "Well, if you ever need to talk, I'm here. No matter what."

There it is again, that smile

There it is again, that smile.

The warmth of Hanni's touch sent a spark through your veins, and for a brief moment, it felt like the two of you were the only two people in the room.

The noise and chatter around them faded into the background, and you were aware of nothing but the closeness of Hanni, the soft curve of her smile, the way her soft and small fingers fit perfectly against your own.

But then the spell broke as the guy from earlier came back over, smiling at Hanni. "Hey, you still owe me that explanation about your last photo," he said playfully, glancing at you before turning his attention back to Hanni.

Hanni gave a small laugh and turned to you with an apologetic look. "I'll catch up with you in a bit, okay?" she said softly, before heading off to join the guy once more.

You nodded, your expression unreadable as you watched Hanni walk away. You felt a pang of something you could only describe as longing—longing for Hanni to stay, to choose you over anyone else in that room. It was a feeling you couldn't rationalize, but it was there, intensifying with every moment that Hanni spent apart from you.

As you left the gallery later that evening, the fresh night air did little to clear the confusion swirling in your mind. You couldn't escape the thought that something between you and Hanni was shifting, that the line between friendship and something more was growing blurrier by the day.

For the first time, you allowed yourself to consider the possibility that you might be falling for your best friend—not just in a way that made your heart race in fleeting moments, but in a way that felt real and terrifying.
