Every night, Rajveer would call Veda just as she settled down to study. She would see his name flashing on her phone, a mix of reluctance and anticipation stirring in her. She didn't want to answer, but the memory of him showing up at her front gate that first time kept her from ignoring it. Reluctantly, she would pick up, placing her phone on her study table as if to remind herself this was temporary, a mere distraction.

But as the days turned into weeks, these calls slowly became a part of her nightly routine. Rajveer would start, always, by telling her about his day. The more he spoke, the more she realized there was more to him than the dangerous persona than she thinks.

After Rajveer was done sharing, he would always ask, "Aur aapka din kaisa tha, Veda ji?"

At first, she kept her answers short, hoping to end the conversation quickly. After some time she found herself talking about her own day her studies, her friends, Rajveer listened, genuinely interested, his occasional chuckles or murmured responses making her feel oddly at ease.

Night after night, they spoke, a strange connection growing between them. Neither of them admitted it, but they both came to cherish those quiet conversations, hidden away from everyone else-a secret part of their lives.

One evening, as usual, Rajveer's call came through. Veda, who was busy in sometime picked up briefly.

"Rajveer ji, I'm busy right now and can't talk." Before he could respond, she hung up quickly.

But within seconds, her phone rang again. She answered. Before she could speak, she heard Rajveer's calm yet unnervingly firm voice on the other end.

"Veda," he began, his tone carrying a quiet intensity, "if you cut the phone again, then I promise you, in the next 15 minutes, I will be in front of you."

A shiver ran down her spine, her heart pounding as she swallowed hard. There was something in his voice that held both a warning and an unspoken promise. She knew he meant it.

"Turn on your camera," he said, his tone still calm but with an edge that made her obey without thinking twice.

Veda turned on the video, placing her phone on her bed so he could see what she was doing. She went to her closet and pulled out a few dresses, laying them out on the bed, trying to act casual while still feeling his gaze through the screen.

Rajveer watched her in silence, a small, unreadable smile on his face, his eyes following her every movement. Even through the distance, he had an effect on her that was hard to ignore, his presence filling her room as if he were really there.

Veda looked a bit lost as she stood by her bed, examining her dresses with a furrowed brow. Rajveer, his curiosity getting the better of him, finally asked, "Kya kar rahi hai aap?"

Still focused on her dresses, she replied, "Kal hamare close relative ki reception hai, toh uske liye kapde decide kar rahi hoon." She held up three dresses, each clearly well-worn and showing signs of having been used several times.

Rajveer studied the screen, noticing immediately how old the dresses were, but he didn't comment. Instead, he watched as Veda went back to her closet, sifting through each hanger and pulling out every outfit she owned, one by one. Seeing that she'd take her time, he calmly got up and moved to his study, placing his phone next to his laptop where he could still see her as he started on some work.

Time passed as Veda continued her search, taking out more and more clothes. Finally, she let out a heavy sigh, looking at the piles she'd created. "I don't have anything to wear," she muttered, almost to herself.
