The Spirit's Lament

Chapter thirteen ==> The final

„Move out the way!" i hear Anna shouting.
„You need to calm down honey, we have enough time" Isaac replies.

I can't see anything, they blind folded me and Molly and as we walk i can feel how that boat is moving underneath my feet, i know it, we are on the lake:
- Wake up! Chase screams, get on your knees, the both of you!

As Molly gets on her knees i see how Chase blinks at me and turn around:
- Mum, why are you doing this? Molly asks as we head up the lake.
- Honey, you want to see your sister again, right? she replied
- Nothing will bring her back! I yell.

Isaac stands up in the boat and rush to grab my neck:
- You're talking too much, he says looking me in the eyes.

„Enough Isaac, she's our lead to the immortality, show some respect." Anna says.
Isaac let go of me and sits next to Anna:
- Mum please, don't do this...you don't have to...
- Jenna will open her eyes any minute Molly, Anna says uncovering a black bag with Jenna's body inside.

The body lies fully naked and Jenna's lips turned black with her eyes half open in a hunting look. A putrid stench covered the area „What the heck...this is macabre" i say to myself as i'm watching Molly who leans over the side of the boat throwing up:
- You two are insane!!! I yell grabbing Molly's hand.
- Watch it girl! Chase says.
- Mum please, you don't have to do this, Molly cries wiping her mouth with the back of her hand.
- I'm doing this for you darling, after Cassie is gone you'll have to drink her blood as well.

Anna approaches me with her eyes glinting with a wild intensity, that makes my skin shiver.
"Why are you doing this?" I scream at her but she doesn't answer, instead she lunges at me catching me off guard.
I stumble back, but she's quick, her hands gripping my arms with a strength i didn't expected.
„Leave her alone!' Molly screams while Isaac is holding her by the arms.

Anna drags me towards the water „It's the only way" she whispers. Panic surges through me as i struggle against her hold, my feet sleeping on the wet ground.

„Mum please, leave her alone" Molly says struggling to get off Isaac's hands. "Stay out of it!" Anna yells looking back to Molly.
„Anna please, stop it" i plead, my voice cracking as i'm sitting at the boat's edge.

I look back at Chase while on the background Molly was crying hysterically and i felt like the world stopped:
- Are we ready Isaac? Anna asks.
- Yes! Isaac replies and handed her a rock with a rope attached.

„No! No! No! Molly screams.

Chase looks at me again, and whistles twice.
In a blink of an eye he jumps into the lake splashing water everywhere.

Anna turns around looking confused, that's the moment when i managed to escape from her hands:
- Stay the heck back! I yell pointing the gun at her head.

Silence covered the air, making me hard to breath:
- Let go of Molly now or i will blow your brain out! i say.

Isaac rises his hands and unties Molly.
- What are you doing Cassie? the prophecy...
- Shut up with that, i interrupted Anna, you're insane lady you need to be locked up along with Isaac.

„No one moves! Isaac, take us back to land now!" I yelled.

Isaac starts whistling the boat while looking back at me:
- If you pull the trigger, you will regret it. You will live the rest of your life with the guilt that you killed a human.
- A monster you mean? i say pointing the gun back to Anna.
- Mum, you need to get help...Molly says trembling.
- My precious daughter, Anna says approaching Molly.
- Stay back!! I yell.
- Your father is so disappointed in you...Anna says.
- Stop! Molly says and sits down, you are crazy! Dad died! you can't talk to him anymore, he's gone.
- No Molly...he's here right now, Anna says pointing at Jenna's body.

"Do you hear that?" Molly asks looking up the sky.
„Yes i do" i whisper.
„It's a helicopter!" Molly exclaims.

The wind is so strong it nearly flipped the boat over, and as i look back i see Chase inside of it.

„Anna Carter And Isaac Wilson, you are under arrest for the murder of Jenna Carter and kidnapping", he shouts through his megaphone.

Anna looks at Isaac, gripping his hands and together they jump into the lake „You gotta be kidding me" i say rushing to the boat edge looking at the water.
„Mum!!!" Molly yells rushing to me.

The helicopter takes a turn to where they jumped scanning the area:
  - This can't be! I say
  - They're trying to escape! Molly exclaimed.
  - We need to get to the land, i say.

The boat is now on land and as i step out of it the helicopter was already there. I look at Molly, she's crying and trembling barely walking towards the bushes in front of was and she collapses on the ground.
The paramedics rushes to her and turning my head around i see Chase waiting for me:
- You did it!! He shouts and hugs me tight!
- I couldn't do it without you! I say and kiss him on the lips.
- I love you Cassie Whitlock, he whispers....
- I love you too, I reply hugging him even tighter.
- What about Anna and Isaac? i ask.
- They won't make it, there's a waterfall not long from here and the marine searching team are already searching for them.
  - What...how?
  - I told you i have a plan, he says smiling at me.

Molly is sitting on the ambulance gurney with a blanket over her looking at the lake.
„One moment" i say to Chase and rush to talk to her:
  - Are you okay? i ask.
Molly looks at me with tears in her eyes:
  - Do you think my mum would make it? She asks me.
  - I don't know...but if she does, she'll need serious treatment, she's crazy Molly...
  - I know but i already lost my dad, i don't want to lose her too...Molly says and hugs me.
  - I'm here for you...i say and kiss her on the forehead. I'm your family now, and so is Chase.
  - Well he lied, he's not my brother after all...
  - It doesn't matter, he is a good man and we are here for you no matter what, okay?

I look at Molly and the stone from my chest was gone, i can breath better now as the war is over.
  „What a day..." i said to myself  looking at Chase from a distance.
