They were supposed to be happy, but they weren't. To be specific, Kai wasn't.

Yeonjun seemed so distant. As if he wasn't here even if he was here.

"Talk to me, lovely. What are you up to?" Kai asked him worriedly.
"...hm?" Yeonjun replied as if he just realized that Kai was with him.
"Talk to me. What are you thinking?" Kai said as disappointment was pouring out of his mouth.
Yeonjun looked here and there for a second, then looked back at Kai with a faint smile, "Nothing. Everything's fine."

Kai was so done, to be honest.

And Yeonjun was afraid. Of everything.

He was dying. For literal, he was going to be out of the world soon.

Doctor asked for a surgery, but also said it had more than 60% risk, and Yeonjun didn't want to take a risk.

For a moment, he had this thought in a while. That Kai deserved better. So he let his thoughts to be out of his mouth.

"Are you happy with me?" He asked then.
"I'm...." Kai paused. He shut his eyes closed and said, "You've gotten weird. I can't understand you. I love you but...."
"See. Maybe ..... Maybe we have different paths." Yeonjun's voice cracked. "We should break up."

*****

The break up was forced, and Kai didn't talk with Yeonjun after that. He thought maybe Yeonjun fell for someone else until one day-
Yeonjun called him nonstop but he didn't pick up at first. After almost 5 calls, when he picked, he could hear someone yelling with broken voice.
"Kai? Is that you?" Someone yelled who wasn't Yeonjun.
"Soobin hyung?" Asked Kai being confused.
"Yeonjun hyung is gone! If you have some heart left within yourself, come visit here the address I've sent you!"

Soobin's voice was broken, as if he was crying too much. After Kai and Yeonjun's breakup, Kai stopped talking with their friend circle. It was almost 1 month. And what did Soobin mean by 'gone'?

When he arrived at the sent address' place, he saw a hospital. And he realized what meant by 'gone'. So Kai almost ran away. He felt guilty. He felt like crying because he never asked Yeonjun exactly why he needed a breakup. Or, why 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑦 needed a breakup. He thought too much about the disloyalty of Yeonjun but never thought  of something else.

Yeonjun was right. They weren't meant to be. They had different paths. This is why they couldn't be together until Yeonjun's last day. But it didn't help rather Kai's guilty grew.
