**Chapter 16: Under Their Control**

Felix felt the lightness of the day fading as he arrived home, a familiar dread settling in his stomach. The brief joy he’d felt with you earlier seemed miles away, replaced by the cold reality of the life he returned to every evening. He barely had a chance to take off his shoes before a servant informed him that his parents were waiting for him in the sitting room.

Inside, his parents sat on either side of a gleaming mahogany coffee table, their postures rigid, their expressions dark. His father’s voice was calm, almost chillingly so, as he addressed Felix.

**Mr. Lee:** “Felix, I heard from Mr. Jeong that you’ve been seen with some… girl. He seemed to think it was becoming a regular sight.”

Felix’s heart pounded, but he tried to remain calm.

**Felix:** “Yes, I have friends on campus. That’s normal, isn’t it?”

A bitter scoff escaped his mother as she folded her arms, her gaze fixed on Felix with an icy intensity.

**Mrs. Lee:** “Normal for ordinary people, perhaps. But you’re our son, Felix. We’ve given you everything—education, status, a future that most could only dream of. And this is how you repay us?”

Felix’s fingers dug into his palms, anger simmering beneath the surface.

**Felix:** “I’m not repaying you. I’m just living my life.”

His father’s eyes narrowed.

**Mr. Lee:** “Living your life?” He leaned forward, voice dropping. “No, Felix. You’re living the life we created for you. Every opportunity you have is because of us, and I will not watch you throw it all away on some nobody.”

---

Felix’s voice hardened, the weight of years of suppressed frustration bubbling to the surface.

**Felix:** “She’s not a ‘nobody.’ She’s someone who actually cares about me.”

His father’s expression turned colder, his gaze slicing through Felix’s words.

**Mr. Lee:** “You think you know what ‘caring’ means? That girl has no idea about our world. She’d only drag you down, and I will not allow it.”

Mrs. Lee joined in, her voice edged with disdain.

**Mrs. Lee:** “You’ve always been foolish when it comes to emotions, Felix. We thought you’d have outgrown this weakness by now, but it seems we were wrong.”

The word “weakness” hung in the air, stinging him more than he expected. Felix felt his defenses crumbling, but he forced himself to stand tall.

**Felix:** “I’m not weak for wanting to make my own choices. I’m not your puppet.”

A cruel smile spread across his father’s face, the hint of amusement only making his words more venomous.

**Mr. Lee:** “Oh, but you are, Felix. Everything you have is because of us. We can take it all away in a heartbeat. Your comfortable life, your tuition, your apartment—all of it.”

---

Mrs. Lee’s voice was sharp, piercing through his thoughts.

**Mrs. Lee:** “If you insist on pursuing this… distraction, we’ll do what we must to set things right. You will focus on your studies and your responsibilities, or you’ll learn just how quickly things can change for you.”

Felix felt a wave of panic rising in his chest. They were ready to take away everything, and he knew they meant it. His whole life had been built around their expectations, and they could strip it away as quickly as they had provided it.

**Felix:** “You’re only proving my point. You don’t care about me. You only care about your image.”

His father’s eyes narrowed, the air between them thick with tension.

**Mr. Lee:** “Keep your mouth shut, Felix. You may feel entitled to a little freedom, but you have no idea what sacrifice means. You are a Lee, and that means you’ll obey us, whether you like it or not.”

Felix clenched his jaw, fighting the anger and helplessness threatening to overwhelm him. His mother, noticing his defiance, offered one final, pointed warning.

**Mrs. Lee:** “End things with her, Felix. We won’t tell you again. And if you don’t listen… there will be consequences far worse than losing a few luxuries.”

---

Felix knew exactly what his mother meant. His parents weren’t just threatening his finances—they were threatening to isolate him, to cut off his connections, and to take away the few things he found comfort in. They had the power to make his life unbearable, and he knew they wouldn’t hesitate to do so if it meant controlling him.

Without another word, Felix turned and left the room, rage and despair battling inside him. He felt trapped, the walls of his world closing in tighter than ever before. Alone in his room, he could still hear his parents’ cruel words echoing, drowning out everything else.

But beneath the fear and frustration, there was also a spark of something else—determination. They might control his life now, but he wasn’t about to give up the one thing that made him feel alive. No matter what his parents said, he couldn’t let go of you. Not now.
