**Chapter 21: holding on**

The afternoon sun hung low in the sky, casting long shadows across Felix's living room as you anxiously paced outside his mansion. A sense of dread gnawed at your insides, twisting your stomach into knots. It had been days since you last heard from him, and the silence felt deafening. You'd texted and called numerous times, but each attempt was met with nothing but emptiness.

Your mind raced through a myriad of possibilities. What if something terrible had happened? The thought sent shivers down your spine. Felix had been going through so much lately, and you couldn't shake the feeling that he was sinking deeper into darkness.

After what felt like an eternity, you mustered the courage to knock firmly on the door, your heart pounding in your chest.

**You:** "Felix! It's me! Are you in there?"

Silence hung heavily in the air, and an unsettling chill crawled up your spine. You knocked again, desperation clawing at your throat.

**You:** "Please, Felix! Just let me know you're okay!"

With a growing sense of panic, you pushed the door open, the creak of the hinges echoing ominously in the stillness. As you stepped inside, a wave of anxiety washed over you. The living room was in disarray—furniture pushed aside, papers scattered across the floor, as if a storm had swept through. But it was the sight in the corner that sent your heart racing and stole your breath away.

Felix lay on the floor, pale and unconscious, blood pooling around him from a deep gash on his wrist. Panic surged through you, and you rushed to his side, kneeling beside him.

**You:** "Felix! Oh my god!"

The sight of his blood sent a wave of nausea through you, and tears threatened to spill as you took in the horrific scene. Your hands trembled as you pressed against the wound, trying to staunch the flow, your heart racing.

**You:** "Please, wake up! Please!"

You felt for a pulse, and your heart leaped when you felt a faint beat beneath your fingers. Relief washed over you momentarily, but it was quickly replaced by an urgent dread. He needed help, and you couldn't just sit there in shock.

Rushing to grab your phone from your pocket, you dialed emergency services, your hands shaking uncontrollably.

**You:** "Please! I need an ambulance! My friend... he's hurt! He's unconscious, and there's so much blood!"

The operator spoke calmly, asking for your address and assuring you help was on the way. You hung up, unable to tear your gaze away from Felix. His face was so pale, the lifelessness in his eyes tearing at your heart.

**You:** "You're going to be okay, Felix. Please, hold on!"

Tears streamed down your face as you pressed harder against his wrist, trying to stop the bleeding. The minutes felt like hours as you waited for the ambulance, fear clawing at your throat. You couldn't lose him; not like this.
