Ishika sat on the edge of the bed, staring blankly at the wall. The silence in the room was deafening, each tick of the clock echoing in her mind like a reminder of her captivity. Just days ago, she had held her phone, her only lifeline to the outside world. Now, it lay in Arav's possession, and with it, her connections to friends, family, and even her own thoughts seemed to evaporate.
"Where's my phone?" she asked, her voice trembling as she looked up at him. Arav stood near the door, arms crossed, a guarded expression on his face. His posture radiated authority, and for a moment, Ishika felt a twinge of fear creeping into her heart.
"I told you, it's for your own good," he replied, his tone flat and unyielding. "You don't need distractions. You need to focus on us."
"Us?" Ishika echoed, disbelief spilling over. "What about my life? My friends? You can't just take my phone and expect everything to be okay!" Her heart raced as the reality of her situation sank in.
He stepped closer, the intensity in his gaze making her pulse quicken. "You don't understand. They're a bad influence. They don't want what's best for you. I do." His voice dripped with a mixture of conviction and condescension, and Ishika felt a knot form in her stomach.
The weight of his words bore down on her. "You're isolating me, Arav. This isn't love." She tried to hold his gaze, to find a flicker of understanding, but all she saw was determination.
He shook his head, his expression shifting to one of annoyance. "I'm protecting you. I don't want you getting hurt by people who don't care about you like I do. You need to trust me." His voice, once smooth and soothing, now carried an edge that made her skin prickle.
"I'm not a child! I can make my own decisions!" she protested, desperation creeping into her voice as she fought back tears. "This isn't how love is supposed to feel."
"Can you?" he countered, stepping into her space, invading her personal bubble. "Because every time I turn around, it seems like you're trying to escape into a world that doesn't care about you. You need to stay here, with me."
Ishika took a step back, feeling cornered. "This isn't living. It's suffocating!" The room felt smaller, the walls closing in around her as she realized how trapped she truly was.
His expression hardened. "Suffocating? Or is it just the realization that you don't have control anymore? I've been giving you everything you need, but you're still not satisfied." His voice rose slightly, frustration evident in every word.
"Everything I need? You mean everything you want to give me," she shot back, her anger flaring for a brief moment. But even as the words left her lips, the fire inside began to extinguish, replaced by a chilling realization: she was utterly trapped.
Arav's demeanor shifted as he leaned in closer, lowering his voice to a whisper that chilled her to the bone. "I want us to be happy. Together. Forever. But you need to understand that I can't trust you if you keep communicating with others. It's a risk."
"Risk? You're the only risk in my life!" she yelled, her voice cracking. "You're the one making me feel like a prisoner in my own home!" The defiance in her tone echoed through the silence, but it was quickly swallowed by Arav's glare.
He narrowed his eyes, the warmth in his expression vanishing. "You think I'm a risk? You're forgetting who has given you everything. You wouldn't last a day without me." The assertion hung in the air, heavy and suffocating.
Ishika felt her heart sink. The truth of his words weighed heavily on her, forcing her to confront her reality. He was right; she was reliant on him now, isolated and trapped in a bubble of his creation.
