Arav leaned against the counter, casually stirring his coffee as he watched Ishika at her desk. The morning light filtered through the office windows, illuminating the soft curls of her hair. Today, he decided, he would turn on the charm, capitalizing on the vibrant energy that swirled around them as the office buzzed with activity.
"Hey, Ishika," he said, sauntering over with an easy smile. "I thought you might like a coffee. I know you prefer it black, no sugar." Ishika looked up, surprise flickering in her hazel eyes. "Wow, thanks, Arav! How did you know?" She took the cup from him, her fingers brushing against his, sending a subtle thrill up her spine. Arav shrugged, feigning nonchalance while his mind raced with the potential outcomes of his careful calculations. "I pay attention. You seem stressed lately, and I figured a little caffeine boost might help.
"She sipped, savoring the rich flavor, and her heart fluttered slightly. "It really does. I've been juggling deadlines and trying to stay afloat. Your timing couldn't be better."
"Anything for you," Arav replied, leaning closer, his tone light yet earnest. "How's that project coming along? Still managing the chaos?"Ishika laughed, a hint of relief escaping her lips. "It's a mess, honestly. I've been trying to juggle everything, but it feels like I'm drowning. Every time I think I've caught up, another wave hits."
"Let me help you with that," Arav offered, his voice smooth as silk, practically wrapping around her. "I can take a look at your progress, maybe lend a hand? Two heads are better than one, right?" Ishika hesitated for a moment, weighing the implications of accepting help from him. "That would actually be great. I could use another pair of eyes on this. You really don't mind?"
"Not at all," he assured her, a gleam of enthusiasm in his eyes. "I love a good challenge. Besides, I'd enjoy the distraction. You can't be stuck in your head all the time, right?" As the day went on, Arav made it his mission to be by her side, effortlessly weaving in and out of conversations. He asked personal questions, drawing her in deeper with each inquiry. "What do you do when you're not working, Ishika? Any hobbies?" Ishika found herself sharing more than she usually would, surprised at her own openness.
"I love painting. It's like therapy for me. It allows me to express things I can't put into words. What about you? Any secret talents?"Arav's expression brightened. "I used to play guitar. It was my escape when I needed to unwind. I haven't picked it up in a while, but I might bring it in one of these days. What about you? Do you ever paint at the studio?"
"Sometimes," she admitted, her cheeks warming at the thought. "But it's usually late at night when I need to clear my mind. I paint landscapes—places I want to visit someday. I'd love to travel more. "He leaned in, genuinely interested. "What's the first place on your list?"
"Japan," Ishika replied, her eyes sparkling. "I've always been fascinated by its culture and art. The cherry blossoms in spring would be amazing to see in person. "Arav nodded, captivated by her passion. "I can totally see you in a traditional kimono, painting under the cherry blossoms. It sounds like a scene from a movie. "She chuckled, imagining it vividly. "Maybe I'll even find a handsome stranger to share it with."
"Oh, I'm sure you'll have no trouble with that," he said, a hint of teasing in his tone. "You've got that artistic allure. Besides, you deserve to be treated like a queen."Ishika blushed, flattered by his compliments. "You're too kind, Arav. I appreciate you saying that. Most people don't notice the little things."
"Trust me, I notice," he replied, locking his gaze with hers. "It's the details that make life beautiful. Like that little painting you have on your desk. It's so vibrant. Did you create it?"
"Yeah, I did," she said, proud of her work. "It's a depiction of the ocean. I feel like it captures my longing to be free, to explore."
"Then let's plan a trip to the coast," he suggested with a smile. "I'll take you to the best spots, and you can paint your heart out."Ishika laughed, feeling a warmth spreading through her. "That sounds amazing! But I'm not sure if I can take time off right now."
