Sam, the people's prince. Colby, a knight on the other side. What if they never met. Well, I wish they didn't.

It had been a few years since the war against 'the other nation' started. King Griffin, Sam's Father, and King of the Huntsmen Nation believed that the Nation of the Kierring did not deserve a name.

(I made up the names, gimme a break, ik they suck 😭)

Sam didn't listen though, he knew his father was just at war because he thought it was fun, playing with pawns, random orders, it made him feel powerful. But Sam didn't understand. He declined the invitation to lead the fight, because "I have to be the face for the people in this dire time!".

He totally pulled that out of his ass. It's not like he was a bad fighter either, probably the best, but he decided being 'daddy's heir' would be better than being a murderer of innocent people.

Though that day Sam's father was bringing Sam 'the finest ladies in the land', whatever that meant. Sam was gay anyways, so he would just pick the most independent looking one to marry, and then never think of her again.

Sure it was selfish, but 'daddy' said that Sam couldn't be gay, so Sam just wouldn't be straight either.

That same day, Kierring's leader sent in their finest solider on a mission, a mission to capture the prince, as peace offering to the king.

So the day started like any other.

For Sam, he was ushered awake by one of the kitchen maids, forcing him to get up and come down to eat with his father. He never listened during these meals, his father would just talk and talk about how absolutely irrefutably fundamentally amazing he was. Which in Sam's eyes, was just false.

For Colby, the elected assassin, he was brought into the meeting room with the council of Kierring and given the run down on the plan. It was as goes, Colby sneaks past the insane amount of guards, climbs into the prince's window, and knocks him out. Easy. For Colby at least, it was like any other job, just... it was a prince.

But it was nothing like they believed it would be.

Sam, after breakfast, went back to his room to calm before the storm of possible bachelorettes flooded in. He always listened to music or painted when he needed to calm, but today he felt strange, like a knowledge of what was to come. He instead decided to lay down on his bed and admire the mural his passed mother had painted with him when he was young.

It was small, just of the clouds and a few birds, but it was everything to Sam. It was his mother, his safety.

He was interrupted from his solitary thoughts by an incredibly loud CRASH! The one day, THE ONE DAY he told his guards he would be fine alone. The one day he let them leave their post!

Sam grabbed the sliver sword that was propped against the bedside table to his left. He kept his grip firmas he stared at the window where the loud noise had come from. But there seemed to be nothing.

That didn't make his worry waver, he instead tightened his grip, which seemed nearly impossible with his hand already turning blue from his harsh hold, and walked towards the window.
