The early morning sun filtered through the leaves, casting dappled patterns on the sidewalk as [Y/N] stepped off the bus, the familiar sights and sounds of Woodsboro hitting her like a wave of nostalgia.

It had been years since she had last set foot in this town, years since she had been torn from her childhood home and friends.

Memories flickered through her mind like an old film reel—the treehouse where they played, the creek where they spent countless summer afternoons, and the laughter they had shared.

But those memories came with a bittersweet sting as she remembered her last day here, when she'd waved goodbye to her best friend, Billy Loomis, not knowing it would be for so long.

With her heart racing, she grabbed her backpack tighter and started the walk toward Woodsboro High, the sound of her shoes echoing against the pavement.

She couldn't shake the feeling of being an outsider, even if this was her hometown. Her heart pounded in her chest as she reached the entrance of the school, the familiar brick facade standing tall against the blue sky. She took a deep breath, steeling herself for the new beginnings and old wounds that awaited her inside.

"Hey! You must be new!" a bright voice interrupted her thoughts. [Y/N] turned to see a tall boy with sandy blonde hair and a wide grin. "I'm Stu Macher. You look a little lost."

"I'm [Y/N]." She offered a bright smile, grateful for the friendly face. "I just moved back to Woodsboro."

Stu's eyes widened in recognition. "Wait, you're the girl who used to live here? I've heard about you! Billy talks about you sometimes."

Her stomach twisted at the mention of Billy. She had hoped to avoid him on her first day back, but the universe seemed intent on pushing them together. "Uh, yeah... I used to know him pretty well."

Stu's grin widened, mischief dancing in his eyes. "Well, if you want to find him, I can help with that. Just stick with me." He linked his arm through hers, leading her through the bustling hallways, introducing her to other students and making her laugh with his antics.

Despite the nerves fluttering in her stomach, she felt a sense of ease beginning to wash over her.

Eventually, they reached the cafeteria, a sea of faces and noise overwhelming [Y/N]. Stu guided her to a table in the corner, where a few other students were gathered.

She recognized some from her childhood, their faces slightly altered by the passage of time, but their laughter and chatter felt familiar.

"Hey, everyone! This is [Y/N], our newest recruit," Stu announced proudly. The group welcomed her with friendly smiles and waves, making her feel a little more at home.

As the conversation flowed, [Y/N] caught sight of a familiar figure across the cafeteria. Billy Loomis, leaning against the wall with his usual nonchalance, was surrounded by a couple of his friends.

His dark hair fell effortlessly over his forehead, and his piercing gaze seemed to scan the room, but she could feel his eyes land on her. Her heart raced as their gazes locked.

He broke the stare first, looking away as if he hadn't seen her. The sight of him tugged at her heart, a mix of longing and sadness bubbling to the surface.

It was strange to think that they used to share everything as kids, only to be left with silence and distance when she moved away.

"Is that Billy?" she asked, trying to keep her voice steady.
