The Day of the Departed always came around at the same time each year, and it was always a holiday that you deemed to be one of your favorites. When you were younger, your father would always dress you up in the most ridiculous costumes and shoo you outside for an hour or two. He always knew what houses gave the best candy, though Lou always made sure to give you extra upon visit, and you chose to share your candy with him in turn. At the end of the night, you'd sit on your living room floor, sometimes Cole would be there, and you would count and organize each piece of candy you had gotten that night.

Back then, you had no real concept of time or what was going to happen in the future, how big of an impact the day would have on you. Which brings you to the now, chuckling awkwardly and waving your hands around in front of the couple in front of you. "Thank you so much for your service, Ninja! Oh, we don't know what we'd do if we had to keep my brother with us..." The woman sighed as she stood up, small tears lingering in her eyes, as you nodded your head slightly. "He's always been so overprotective of me, I just didn't expect him to continue it after he's passed on." The man next to her chuckled and stated that he should've met her brother sooner, and maybe this all would've been avoided in the end.

Patting your sides awkwardly, you held a smile as your eyes darted between the couple, eventually locking them onto the woman as she sighed and looked at you. "It was no trouble, really. I'm just happy that you allowed me to help him pass on, he lives in peace now with you in his heart." You held in an embarrassed expression as the woman started to sob and proceeded to thank you through her sobs, you looking every where but her. "Yeah, yeah, you're welcome just... please tone it down. Please..." Glancing around, you spotted a group not to far away from you, a few of them snickering as they gave you small waves.

Shaking your head, you reassured the woman once more before she walked off into the city with her boyfriend in tow. Stifly, you turned around and rejoined with the rest of the Ninja, Kai snickering as he mocked you and pushed your shoulder. "I know you said you ran into a lot of cry babies when you did this kind of work, but I didn't expect them to actually cry that much." Nya sighed as she grabbed her brother by the ear and tugged him away from you, the boy letting out cries of distress upon the tug.

"I told you, even after I tell them I don't need any kind of reimbursement they somehow always manage to find me when I'm in the city." You mumbled as you glanced over your shoulder just in case, tugging at random parts of your casual wear out of habit. "I'm happy they're happy but... come on." You sighed out, though a little chuckle came along with it, Nya snorting as well and stating she knew exactly what you mean. She's been one of the unlucky ones to witness another cry baby walking up to you, the two of you just wanted to go out to eat.

A bit more bickering came from Kai as he tried to get out of his sisters grasp, the two spinning around and having a small fight between themselves. "That just shows how much they appreciate you and your work, Y/n, think nothing of it." Turning over, you shot Cole a thankful nod and a small smile, the taller returning the gesture before facing the group once more. "Alright, we have a busy night later, so let's figure out what festivities we're gonna get done now, while the sun's still out!" This caught the groups attention, and effectively broke up the small cat fight happening between Nya and Kai.
