The small shop you were currently in was rather busy, but not to the point where you were uncomfortable with the amount of people. Many children tugged on their parent's clothes to grab their attention, pointing to many costumes that lined the walls. Others were choosing to buy bags of candy to hand out later into the day, meanwhile you were in the incense section, scanning the options.
The Day of the Departed was one of your favorite holidays, as it not only brought along fun activities, but also chose to memorize those who you had lost. The holiday didn't really hold any meaning to you until a few years ago when your father passed away, along with Lily. From then on, you always chose to come down to Lou's, no matter what you had on your plate, and honor the two of them. This year was no different, even with your new occupation as a Ninja.
Picking a few sticks of incense out, you placed them into a small baggie before walking away from the section. Reaching over, you quickly grabbed a folded up lantern and made your way over to the register, smiling upon greeting. The cashier quickly scanned your items and allowed you to pay in full, leaving no time for conversation as you walked out of the store.
Glancing upwards at the sky, you sighed and quickly checked the time, debating on if you even had time to do what you initially wanted. Usually you'd stop by Lou's and have a cup of tea, or two, with the man before the festivities began, but you were currently facing a scheduling issue. While you wanted to go visit the man, Wu had requested you and the other Ninja to meet up at the Museum before the night kicked off. Not only that, but Wu wanted you over especially early, stating that he had a few things to discuss with you before the holiday started.
Shuffling through your clothes, you eventually found your phone and clicked onto the message Wu had sent your way. You were still baffled the hundred year old man knew how to use a phone, but you got surprised everyday so you kind of shrugged it off. Though he had stated he wanted you to meet him an hour before the other Ninja, he knew you had a tradition you followed every holiday. You were inwardly thankful that he knew his way around traditions, as he continued to speak on how it would be okay if you didn't make it perfectly on time.
Pocketing your phone, you quickly rushed over to the bus stop, waving at the bus driver before he could close the doors. Slipping a bus coin into the slot, you sat down into a chair with a sigh, holding your belongings in your lap as the bus slowly began to drive off. While you were out and about in the city, the Ninja were currently out on a mission, you being the only one not assigned to it. Though Lloyd tried to brush the topic off, he did stutter out how it was a mission that required a little bit more training than you initially had, leaving you to wander the city for the day.
Once reaching your stop, you quickly rushed off the bus and let out a sigh upon seeing the suburban area. Walking through the streets, you got quiet a few waves and smiles shot your way before you arrived at Cole's house, reaching upwards to knock on the door. After you had done so, you briefly turned around, pausing upon seeing an array of bundled flowers and unlit incense sticks on your old home's front porch. There were also a few folded up letters, along with a portrait of your father, making you grab your belongings a little bit tighter.
You were too caught up in your head that you hadn't noticed Lou had opened the door, not until he reached forward and patted your back. "Why don't you come in, Y/n?" Lou spoke softly, catching you off guard as you jumped and turned around, quickly apologizing while the man laughed in turn. "It's quite alright, it's always a joy to see you when I can. Please, come on in, I already have some tea boiling." You smiled and quickly thanked the man before stepping into the house, discarding your shoes at the front door before walking through the hall.
