"You are indeed strong, Kira; but let us see how you fair against Vincent." Akio leads me through the destruction that the coming of darkness had caused the planet. Dead bodies scattered everywhere for miles. Ash fell like snow, and soon the temperature dropped and it nearly seemed likely it would actually snow.
I glance over at Akio, "Who is Vincent?"
Akio grinned, "A friend of mine. We both were demons before the coming of darkness. Little mishaps and cracks in God's light gave chance for beings like us to exist before now. And now we have something like you; I'm curious to see what other beings exist now."
"'Other beings'?" I questioned. "What else could we become besides demons?"
"There are a vast amount of possibilities!" Akio exclaimed. "Think of darkness as a source of power or energy; now while thinking that, consider every being's unique thought process or even their view in this world. Darkness will have a different result as it enters each body and takes a hold of their soul. It's not a 'one size fits all' sort of thing. Individuality creates numerous possibilities; but the demon faction is a more common possibility." Akio feints a breath as he sighs, "Does that answer your question, Kira?"
"For the most part; yet are there any other factions other than demon so far?"
"Of course, though the naming of them isn't set in stone. First off the demon faction is split between the higher demon class and lower demon class. The higher demons or the 'Elite' class are demons like us. Mainly human shaped with intelligence; rather the lower class who are unintelligent monsters with various shapes. We also have our distant cousins: the demons of hell; much more powerful than the common elite demon here. Next we have our beast faction; mainly animals turned monster or even chimeras are common. Next we have 'Ancients', they've existed long before the fall of mankind. They are not unlike humans, yet they are beings who hold knowledge of the entire world. They exist solely for that reason, a kind of bookkeeper if you will." Akio smiles at me, "Next we have the very common vampires and werewolves factions; a kind of mix between the beast faction and demon faction; especially on the werewolf side with their monstrous transformations. They're mainly a super human whose body was poisoned by darkness; almost a result of the soul rejecting the darkness. From there on the factions spread out and are very scarce or a onetime occurrence."
"I see," I tell him as we continue walking through the wasteland that was once a very much alive field back when the world thrived. "Do we ever get demons from hell on earth?"
"All the time," he laughs, "They pass through the dimensions easily; mainly the weaker ones. If we ever got the higher level demons to pass through; I'm afraid we'd have a huge challenge with taking over this world." His grin didn't falter and his eyes glittered with madness.
We fall into silence as the destruction soon turns to wasteland in places where the darkness had ripped off layers of the earth. We walked patiently, as if Akio hadn't any care on how long it took. If days passed, I could neither register them in my demon body nor with how the earth's sky now appeared to me.
A man appeared in the distance as we slowly crossed the barren earth until he stood before us. Akio smiled warmly as he called out, "Vincent! There you are, my friend. I was beginning to think we would never find you."
Vincent bore several piercings in his demon ears along with his labret and eye brow. Small chains dangled from his ears, and glancing down, bigger chains wrapped around his arms and dangled down to his hands where blades hung at the end of each chain. Chains seemed to appear all over this man with long dirty blonde hair. A black sleeveless shirt fit tightly to his chest with baggy black jeans to go with it.
I clashed completely with his appearance, my blood stained white dress shirt ripped open, and black dress pants ripped and torn; I looked like a victim, while Vincent looked like a murderer.
Yet I refused to ever be a victim.
"I was beginning to think the same thing, Lord Akio; I've been wandering for days looking for where you disappeared to." Vincent's tone was filled with humor as he spoke with a clear confident voice.
"I've been here and there," Akio said vaguely, "I've found a new recruit already; this is Kira," Akio introduced me with his arm held open, presenting me to Vincent.
"He doesn't look like much," Vincent grins, "a little worse for wear at the moment it seems."
I can't help myself as I glare at him, rage still boiling within my veins as the darkness grips my heart. I glance over to see Akio smiling joyfully at us; amusement alive in his eyes.
"Do you wish to test him, Vincent?" asks Akio.
