Ch 6 Death (unfinished)

Time slows to a stop. Black feathers scatter around me. Am I going die? The blood won't stop seeping from my wounds. I lie on the ground, the poisoned dirt beneath my crumpled form. Time still has yet to move.
Then I see him, standing there in a dark cloak, the hood concealing his face; stretching from his back are black wings, wings black as death.
"Are you done defying me, Kira? Are you ready to give up on bringing that dead woman back to life?"
"Who are you?"
Suddenly he stands above me. Slowly he crouches down so I can see his mouth while the rest of his face remains concealed in shadow.
"I would think that to be obvious, Kira. I am Death, the one you've been fighting to defy."
"I just want her back. You stole her from me. Give me back my Aria!" I start coughing up blood.
"Yours? She is mine now, Kira. You're a fool to think I would allow you to take her back. Akio cannot bring her back. This is all so futile for you, and benefits only him."
"So what would you rather have me do? Die here?"
He smiles down at me, "no," I hadn't noticed before but now I see black air escape his mouth as he talks. The smell is putrid, rotten like a ripe corpse. "I would rather you serve the right being. The one who gave you the opportunity to live and fight for this world."
"Would that be you?" Must I always serve someone? When will I have control over my own destiny?
More black breath clouds around his mouth in a throaty laugh, "no, but you may serve me if you like, it's a step in the right direction at least. Alas, I was aiming a little higher above me."
"Who?"
"You know who, Kira." With that, Death leaves me where I lay and time continues. I feel my body healing finally as I find the strength to stand. Whether for Akio or myself, I must continue this fight if I wish to live.
