Days had passed since that little stunt Hana pulled. Everyone seemed to have forgotten it even happened, and honestly, that was for the best. That day felt surreal, like a scene straight out of a dramatic opera. I never would have imagined such a scene playing out in my life. It felt so unreal, like something I only saw happen on TV, not in real life.
I stopped writing my proposal, took a deep breath, and stared at the ceiling, taking a mini-break from the project. I couldn't help but reflect on how different my life was now compared to before. I was grateful for this opportunity to rewrite my story and start anew. I wouldn't change it for anything.
As I looked around, I noticed everyone busy with their own activities: Eren and Jean were at it again, bickering like old friends; Sasha was devouring all the snacks while Connie tried to stop her; and Ymir and Historia were playfully flirting with each other. I couldn't help but smile at the chaos surrounding me.
Wanting to take my break, I let everyone know and headed outside for some fresh air. I walked to a nearby bench and sat down, admiring my surroundings. The sun was shining, and a light breeze rustled the leaves. Just as I settled in, I heard Levi call my name.
"(Y/n)," he said, his voice firm yet calm. I turned to see him approaching, his expression unreadable as usual. "Taking a break?"
"Yeah, I needed one," I replied, trying to keep my tone casual. "Just reflecting on everything."
He nodded, leaning against the bench beside me. "Good. It's important to take time for yourself, especially with everything going on. How's the proposal coming along?"
I shrugged. "It's coming together. I think I'm finally figuring out how to present the crystal project in a way that makes sense to everyone." I hesitated, then added, "But it's a lot of pressure."
Levi's gaze softened just slightly. "You're doing well. Just remember, you're not alone in this. The team is behind you, and I expect you to lead us through it."
His words offered me some reassurance. I nodded, feeling a renewed sense of determination. "Thanks, Levi. I appreciate that."
Before he could respond, we were interrupted by a loud shout from Eren, followed by a crash. "Jean! I told you to stop pushing me!"
Levi sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Some things never change," he muttered.
I chuckled, grateful for the light moment. "Looks like they'll never grow up."
"Don't count on it," Levi replied, a rare hint of amusement in his voice. "Now, back to work. We can't afford distractions."
I stood up, feeling revitalized. "You're right. Let's get back to it."
I stood up, feeling revitalized. "You're right. Let's get back to it."
As we walked back toward the building, I felt the need to express my gratitude. I paused for a moment, catching Levi's attention. "Hey, Levi?"
He turned to me, his expression neutral, but I could see a flicker of curiosity in his eyes. "What is it?"
I took a deep breath, gathering my thoughts. "I just wanted to thank you. For, you know, standing up for me during the incident with Hana. I know it wasn't easy, and I really appreciate you having my back."
For a brief moment, I thought I saw surprise flash across his face, quickly replaced by his usual stoic demeanor. "It's part of my job," he replied, but his tone was softer than usual. "You're part of the team now. I won't tolerate anyone mistreating you."
I smiled, feeling a warmth spread through me. "Still, it means a lot. It's nice to know I have someone like you looking out for me."
He shrugged, attempting to dismiss the compliment, but I could see the corner of his mouth twitch, as if he was fighting back a smirk. "Just do your job well, and you won't have to worry about it."
