I'm scared.Someone... please tell me that I'm just having a nightmare right now.
He's bleeding... so much. There is lots of blood on the staircase. His skin against me was warm, and his complexion was not looking good. I used to perceive him as strong and always smiling, so why am I faced with this weakened version of him now?
This is not real, right? This must be a nightmare! Or probably a delusion! Right! A delusion. This can't be real... right?
"I... didn't expect something like this to happen. I'm..." Angelus closed his eyes and winced, as if he was feeling an unbearable pain before opening his eyes again. "I'm sorry..."
I shook my head, my eyes blurring because of the tears shaping my eyes. I bit my trembling lip, but my sobs still escaped.
"W—What are you sorry for? You promised me, right? That you wouldn't get hurt! Please... I'll do my b—best, I'll help you, and Apollo is there—" I stopped mid-sentence when he cupped my cheek.
His hand... is cold.
"Ristan is down. He's probably fighting for his life right now." He chuckled weakly, and my eyes closed when he pressed his forehead against mine. "I'm so happy for you, Farida... you can now live without worries... You don't have to hide anymore."
I opened my eyes slowly and found his closed eyes. I thought his strange voice was because of his wounds. However, when I noticed his wet lashes and the trembling of his eyelids, my lips parted in surprise. My body stiffened, and a sharp twinge in my chest forced me to gasp slightly.
"I'm so happy." He opened his eyes, and they shone with unshed tears. "Even if I won't be with you in that safe life, I'm still so... happy. I think I can rest easy."
"W—What... are you talking about, Angelus?" I asked, my voice shaking as I put a tiny distance between us.
He looked down as a small smile appeared on his pale lips. Kumurap siya nang isang beses. Mabagal iyon. Tila kailangan niya ng lakas para magawa ito bago i-angat ang naghihinang mga mata sa akin.
"I have four fatal injuries... I'm losing blood, too. The medic is not here. We can't call for help because this place shouldn't be found by the authorities."
He fixes his gaze on me, as though he knows this might be our final moment together. It's scaring me. Because of the way the light in his eyes pales, I know... I know...
"Angelus, stop s—scaring me..." I said shakily.
"I'm sorry." He pressed his cheek on my hand. "I can't... make it tomorrow."
