Chapter 14

Ok guys, I'm back!

Rhaenyra watched her son eat his food, he appeared to be lighter and not as angry as a few days before. She heard about him training with Harwin and according to what everyone said they had a good time. Rhaenyra knew that her two eldest children missed their father, they had lost two men very important to them in a matter of days. It had not helped that she immediately married Daemon and her children had not been able to mourn Harwin or Laenor. Rhaenyra always felt a sense of guilt when she looked at her children and realized all they had lost because of her.

"You are deep in thought." Daemon's voice was low, making sure she was the only one who would be able to hear him. "Is something bothering you?"

Rhaenyra was a bit confused by Daemon's change in attitude. He had not tried to apologize again or tell her that what happened with Helaena's son was a mistake, but he spent a lot of time observing her. He looked like he was trying to figure something out, but did not say much. She had also noticed that he had been following her around, but he would not say anything or get in the way.

She moved her head a bit closer to him. "I was just observing Jace, he has been acting less angry since training with Harwin a few days ago."

"Yes, they have been spending some time together." Rhaenyra was a bit surprised, she had not known that part. While she had known they had trained once, she did not know they were spending time together. Daemon must have seen her confusion because he continued to explain. "From what I heard it was set up by Visenya."

That part surprised Rhaenyra even more, from what she had seen the girl always seemed annoyed with her and Daemon's children. "Are you sure it was Visenya?"

"Yes, she was the one who asked Harwin to train with Jace and the next day she asked Harwin if he could show Jace around." She had never imagined that the princess would do something so nice for her son. "He has been spending time with Harwin and his sons, who I guess are his brothers also."

It was confusing to figure out their relationship with the people in this world. It was nice to see Harwin and Laena married and happy, they seemed to have a good life and loved each other. Things in this world were so different, even when they had issues, they were nowhere near as bad as the ones they had in their world. She gave Daemon a small smile. "That is nice, I am glad he is able to get to know them all better and spend time with them."

Daemon nodded but continued to look at her. There was something in his eyes she could not decipher, but it was making her a bit nervous. He cleared his throat and gave her a hopeful look. "Are you meeting with the queen after supper?"

She shook her head. "No, she is spending time with her family and will not be doing any work."

"That's good." Daemon looked around, making sure their children were busy before looking back at her. "Would you like to take a walk in the gardens?"

Rhaenyra frowned, not sure she had heard him right. "What?"

Daemon seemed a bit unsure, which was a first because her husband was always confident. "I want to know if you would like to take a walk in the gardens, with me."

She just blinked, not completely sure what had made him ask. She could not remember the last time she and Daemon had taken a walk together, just for the sake of it, but it had been before her father's death. Daemon and she were busy raising a family and governing Dragonstone. They usually spent time together at the end of the day, and it was mostly in their chambers.
