Theo noisily made his way back to Mike's room, practically slamming the door. Sev was on the bed, looking around at the posters around Mike's room. And Mike and El were by the boy's science fair trophies.

"You know Will? Did you see him? Last night? On the road?" Mike asked softly, Theo peaked over El's shoulder. She was pointing at Will.

Theo's blood ran cold. All the anger he had dissipated while he looked between Sev and El, suddenly the kids didn't feel as welcoming as they did minutes ago.

A car pulling up the driveway made all of their heads turn to the window. Mike hurried over to it and peered out. "We gotta go!" Mike said hurriedly, grabbing El's wrist and running out of the room. Theo pushing Sev in front of him and both boys hurried after them.

Mike made it to halfway down the stairs when the door opened and he turned and motioned for everyone to go up. Their noisy footsteps alerted Karen of the presence.

"Ted? Is that you?" The woman questioned while they all sprinted to Mike's room. "Just us, Mom!" "Hi, Mrs. Wheeler!" Both boys shouted in sync, dragging both wonder kids into Mike's room.

"Mike? Theo? What are you doing home?" She questioned, "One second!" Mike said before shutting his door. Mike hurried over to his closet. "In here. I'll be right back, okay?" Both kids seemed hesitant to go into the closet.

"Please you have to get in, or my mom, she'll find you. Do you understand?" Mike asked hurriedly, obviously panicking. It was obvious (to Theo, at least) that the two had some sort of trauma dealing with closed spaces. He felt bad, having some traumas of his own, but they didn't have time to come up with another option. "It's only for a second! C'mon, please guys! We don't want you in any danger." Theo tried to persuade them.

"We won't tell her about you, I promise." Mike added on. "Promise?" El questioned. "It's something that you can't break. Ever." Theo said.

"Micheal?" Karen called. They were running out of time. "Please." Mike tried again, staring into El's eyes. That seemed to work as El grabbed Sev's hand and both walked into the closet.

"Be right back." Theo smiled before shutting the door quietly. Both Mike and Theo made the walk of shame down the stairs and sat on the couch.

"I just.." Mike sighed, "I don't feel good. I woke up and my head, it really hurt, bad." Theo mentally sighed. Mike was terrible with excuses, especially on the spot. "And my throat was all scratchy, and I wanted to tell you, but the last time I told you I was sick, you made me go to school anyway, and—" Theo raised his eyebrows, adding that last part made his excuse more believable. One point to Mike.

"Micheal." Karen cut off her rambling son. "Yeah?" The boy in question asked hesitantly. "I'm not mad at you." Theo was floored, definitely wasn't the reaction he was expecting. Neither was Mike, apparently. "No?"

"No, of course not." She shook her head and scooted towards her son. "All this that's been going on with Will, I can't imagine what it's been like for you. For either of you." Her eyes shifted to Theo for a second before focusing back on Mike. "I just... I want you to feel like you can talk to me. I never want you to feel like you have to hide anything from me. I'm here for you, okay?"

Mike nodded, then one of the wonder kids just had to mess it up and a thump came from upstairs. "Is there someone else here?" Karen questioned.

Mike got a brief look of "oh shit" on his face before shaking his head. "No." He said with a shrug.

"Okay. You can go." She smiled, kissing Mike on the head, to which the raven haired boy rolled his eyes at, before the 12 year old rushed up to his room. "Theo, can I speak to you for a minute?"

Theo sat back down, turning to her. "What's up?" He asked, "I'm assuming you heard about your dad?" Oh. That's what was up. He dragged his gaze to the floor and nodded.

"Good." She patted Theo's shoulder sympathetically. "I ran into Callahan today, he told me. Listen, Theo. You know you're more than welcome to stay here, anytime. But I just wanted to tell you that they've found someone to take you in. They've been looking since they found out, which was a few days ago." She paused and sighed, halting her rambling. "The Ryders have offered you a room. And we can go later today to get your stuff and meet them. Or we can go tomorrow, during school. How does that sound?" She asked softly, a hand on Theo's shoulder.

"Sounds great, Mrs Wheeler. Thanks." He said quietly, looking at her with unshed tears. He gave her a quick hug and rushed back upstairs before she could stop him.

"I'm bac—woah. Everything okay in here?" He asked, opening the door and seeing Mike crouched in front of the closet. He gestured for Theo to come in quickly and then turned back to the closet. "Is everything okay?" Mike asked, eyes flickering between the two siblings. Theo walked over in time to see Sev wiping his tears. "Are you sure?"

"Promise." El whispered, "You don't sound sure." Theo muttered, earning an elbow in the side from Mike and a glare from Sev.
