England

In United Kingdom, more specifically, in England, it was where Mia decided to run away and hide. Despite being retired, she is still under the protection of SHIELD as one of their greatest agents. Darkshadow's sudden disappearance was not something taken light by almost everyone. Even the media has somehow gotten curious about her whereabouts. Some, even suspecting that she died during one high-security mission. That was how protected she was from other people's radar.

Nobody knew her real identity not even just how her face looked like. Mia fought in the dark. Like a shadow that cannot be caught. She always wore a mask when it comes to doing missions. She was never for interrogations and interactions. She mostly finished the job and that helped her keep her identity hidden. Mia only revealed her face on a mission once, and it was the mission that gave her Peter. Still, despite that, Tony never knew her real name and identity, so the secret identity thing had remained.

For seven years, nobody aside from chosen SHIELD agents and Natasha knew where Darkshadow was. She hid her son successfully out of anyone's radar. Him being a son of a spy is already a health and safety hazard. Even more so if people find out he's the son of a billionaire as well.

When Mia gave birth, she was no longer surprised by the resemblance her son had with his father. From the curly brown hair to their hazel brown eyes. He even managed to inherit his father's long lashes, the feature that caught Mia's attention when they danced.

On August 10th, Peter Anthony Austria was born.

He was a normal delivery. The only person next to Mia during her delivery was Natasha. She held Mia's hands all throughout and stayed with her during the entire process. She became Mia's strength and was there for her even after her birth.

Natasha held Mia's hand tightly as she went to labor. "That asshole." Mia cursed.

She cried out in pain as the epidural still has not taken to effect.

"It takes two to tango, hun." Natasha remined her.

Mia wanted to fight back but she ended up yelling pain until a few tears fell from her eyes.

"Nat... Nat I can' t-"

"Only a little bit, Mia."

And so, the long and painful labor continued. Soon, they heard a baby's cry.

"Hello, Peter."

Now, Mia knew genetics and heredity were a thing. However, it still surprises her at times.

"Peter, honey, what are you doing?" She asked, seeing her son all focused on the papers scattered around their dining table. On his hand was some sort of robot that she can barely figure out the purpose of.

She cannot even process the fact that her son just casually made a robot.

"A robot, mommy! This is Mr. ZAP!" He giggled happily. "Don't get mad. Mr. ZAP is for a good purpose. I promise!" Peter convinced his mom with his brown doe eyes he inherited from his father. After all, Mia had dark brown eyes, almost black.

"Really? What does Mr. ZAP do?"

"It means Zero Accident Protection-bot!" Peter explained happily. "Remember the robot kit you bought me for my birthday, mommy? It was supposed to be a simple smoke detector, but I made it to Mr. ZAP!"

Mia smiled proudly and kissed her son's forehead. It was a lot to process. Peter wanted a 'Make your Own Robot- Easy and Convenient' kit for his Christmas present and she bought him that last Christmas. She thought Peter already forgot about it only to be met by a pleasant surprise.

He's only a first grader and he's already smarter than the others. It would not take long for him to be accepted into other schools with scholarships because of his academic record.

Mia was too preoccupied with her thoughts that she did not notice Peter handing her the salt she asked from him. She did not notice it when it slipped from Peter's hand, and she failed to accept it. Before it reached the tiled floor and shatter into a million pieces, her instincts woke her up and she easily caught the saltshaker in a split second.

"Mommy that was so cool." Peter said in awe, clapping as he watched the entire scene happen right in front of his eyes.

Mia laughed awkwardly and nodded. It has been seven years since she was in the game. Although she still has some practices she quite could not get rid of, she has to admit that she has become rusty after all these years compared to how she was before.

If Mia was being honest, as much as she loves the peace and serenity of staying in England with her son, she also missed the thrill and adrenaline of being a spy. She missed the training, the missions, and the fighting. As dangerous as it was, it was something she wanted to do again if she could.

As if reading her mind, Natasha suddenly entered her house, already having her own key because of how frequent she visits. "Where's my nephew?" The Russian agent asked as soon as she saw Mia.

"In the kitchen, why?" Mia asked, wiping her hands and handing Natasha something to drink.

The Russian spy wore her suit. Most probably coming from a nearby mission and decided to drop off. Again, that weird feeling of wanting to be back in the game began to bug Mia. The two of them sat down on the living room.

"Want me to call him?" Mia offered and Natasha shook her head.

Mia's brow rose. It was weird for her to decline an offer to see Peter. After all, most of the time Natasha only visits for Peter. That was when Mia realized it was probably something serious seeing as Natasha's gaze has been hard and composed.

"We need you to come in." Natasha said, straight to the point and seeing no point in lying to Mia about the purpose. "Fury said to scout you once more."

"Is this about the Avengers initiative?" Mia asked again and Natasha shrugged.

"Kind of but also not. I kept telling Fury that you're retired but he was so keen on having your back. Seems like the loss of one of his greatest spies was taking a toll on him."

"What's the mission?" Mia asked.

"Be Stark's spy." Natasha revealed.

That made Mia pause. She has been avoiding the man like a plague for as long as she could remember. She can't even remember the last news she heard about him. Mia tried to tell him for the first three years of Peter's life but eventually gave up after getting tired of her attempts.

"Again?" She asked and Natasha nodded.

Mia still haven't told Natasha about Tony being Peter's dad, but Mia had a hunch that Natasha already knows and is just not telling Mia about it. "Fury's relentless. He has already assigned a living space for you and Peter back in NYC. He even offered some of our best soldiers to look after Peter. He also swore to keep your privacy and made sure to keep it out of their files."

Mia sighed and bit her lip. "I'll think about it."
