13:04 pm:
A new murder popped up at the South side of Rockwell. This time it was not just a single murder, it was a triple murder. Three families all strangled then burned in between their houses in the forest.
"Gruesome." I mutter, pushing through the ashes. "Do you think this is the work of the Suburban Strangler, Rebecca?"
She exhales heavily as she takes another photo of the crime scene on her phone. "I don't even know what I think anymore....these poor victims were strangled using chains then burned, some were most likely still alive. Now look at them, all that's left is bones. Hopefully they had good teeth or else there will be a difficult time identifying the people apart."
"I wonder if he used a different approach....or since he left DNA at the last scene if he wanted to ensure there was none left at this scene...."
"I just don't know how we can explain this to the public.... All they know is there was break ins, in their quiet area."
As I turn around to head back to the office I literally run into Sergeant Dick of Sucker also known as Sergeant Shoo.
"Really?! " he bellows. "I thought I told you to keep off my crime scenes!"
"Well... You're not doing a good job of keeping me out of them...."
"I could have you arrested for ruining evidence at the McDavis crime scene, Jesse. If you want to keep your ranking and your job, I would get your ass out of here as soon as possible!"
"All I'm here for is to help, no need to kick me out just because you're afraid I'll solve the case before your high end detective."
Sergeant Shoo gives me his famous glare as he grips the butt of his gun. Personally I don't think the police uniform looks good on him. More likely a mall cop uniform would be his style.
"Don't push is Jesse." He grits his teeth as he grabs the collar of my shirt. "Now get off my crime scene or I swear to the good lord that I will arrest your ass and throw away the key!"
He throws me into the grass of the nearest backyard before he flicks the butt of his cigarette on me. As he turns to waddle back to the scene I call out "don't light a fire with your butts!". But all that gets me is his plump middle finger above his bald head.
14:13 pm:
Arriving in the station, there is no one in sight. The hallways are free of off shift police, homicide is nothing but phones ringing and computers flashing their screen savers. And the front desk has a single sign that reads, "please ring bell for assistance".
"Hello?" I mutter when stomping around, hoping to gain any attention of any officer. "Detective Denver Jesse is in the building...." Not a peep was made.
Stomping up the stairs into homicide, my eye spots a new posting on the whiteboard; words written in blood at the latest crime scene.
"Weird.. I thought no one has come back yet...."
I approach the board steadily as the words become more readable. Within five steps I can read them clearly with no hesitation; good luck.
"Creepy huh?" A voice shouts, causing me to jump into the board. "Just don't wreck it Denver...." it is Cassie.
"Cassie are you nuts?! Why didn't you respond when I came in?!"
"It's a simple answer really. I wanted to scare you like you scare me everyday." she laughs in her English accent. "What a turn of power eh, Denver?"
Cassie arrived in New York after completing the academy in the Yukon. But before that, she was living it large in London, England.
"Well...I believe you did a great job in spooking me." I laugh.
"Actually D, I did a spectacular job. I have never heard of anyone scaring the great, sassy, jackass also known as Detective Denver Jesse. Well anyone besides the Suburban Strangler."
"I'm not scared of the Suburban Strangler!?"
"I know what happened to you Denver..." she mutters softly. "I found your case file..."
