2nd week of Senior Year- Woodgate high 2012
Everyone knows the story of Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet. The star crossed lovers that ended their lives over a family feud.
The name's Elle. Elle Capulet. But trust me I don't plan on killing myself over a boy anytime soon. Then again, I didn't plan on falling in love either.
I sigh deeply, letting my head fall into my palm, my arm propped up on the desk. I stare blankly at the blindingly white board in front of me. As much as I'd love to boast on how much I was paying attention like the nerd I was, I wasn't. What I was studying was three seats down one to the left. The class could have been doing physics and I wouldn't even spare a glance. I was too busy trying to solve the mystery of how someone's head could be so attractive from the back. After 30 minutes of shameless staring I was no closer than before.
"Miss Capulet? Would you care to share what you find more interesting then my class, or do you want to answer the question on the board?"
My cheeks burned. I hated attention with a fiery burning passion.
"Yeah, Elle, why don't you let us in that pretty little head of yours?" a sickly sweet voice piped up from the back.
I internally rolled my eyes. Chloe, why can't you keep out of my damn business for 5 freaking seconds, I felt like shouting, but I knew I'd never actually do it.
"I bet its full to the brim with Reece," another slut stage whispered. But...of course everyone could hear and the rest of the poplars burst out laughing.
My cheeks literately burst into flames. Everyone has there time, my dad always told me. Well, I thought, if he hit me with lighting right now then I'd be happy to go.
"No," I squeaked to Mr. Blare who was still glaring daggers at me, "and the answer is X=28.9570" Mr. Blare beamed. I was probably the only student that ever actually worked in his boring-as-hell calc class.
"Nerd." Someone coughed.
"Teacher's pet." Another snorted.
Really? Couldn't they come up with something more original?
I go back to staring at the beautiful boy. I'm pretty sure everyone BUT him knows that I like him. I have no chance so I do what I do best. Watch from what could be taken as a creepy stalker-ish distance.
Class ends and I stand up. I grab my bag from beside my chair and attempt to juggle all my binders in the other hand. One minute I'm standing next I'm face first on the floor.
"He's not yours, Elle Capulet. Just because he's 'your' Montague doesn't mean he'll ever love you. No one ever will," Chloe sneered from above me.
I stand, gather my things, and hightail it out of the classroom; determined to get to my next class on time. As I race down the hallway I catch a glimpse of beautiful chocolate hair cover by an 'Obey' snapback.
His name's Reece. Reece Montague. The school bad boy and most wanted person I know. Let's get something straight. This is not Shakespeare's famous love story. In real life Juliet (me) loves Romeo (Reece) but he doesn't love her...or even know she exists.
I go through the rest of my classes fitting into the same boring routine. Sit down, work, ignore sadistic jerks, leave, and repeat. Lunch finally rolls around and I walk in the complete opposite direction of everyone else.
