Everyone was chatting excitedly on the bus as they headed back to UA. Midoriya on the other hand was quiet as he sat looking out the window watching the scenery fly by. He wasn't sure what he felt. He knew what he was feeling was excitement and happiness, but there was another part that he just couldn't identify.
Vaguely he listened to class 1A talk among themselves about their results that each of them received. Even those that failed the second half of the exam had gotten the detailed notes from all of the examiners and would be able to attend a supplementary course to get their hero licenses.
Class 1A only had one student that hadn't passed, which was a major shock as it was Todoroki of all people. Apparently during the fight against Gang Orca, the issues between Todoroki and Inasa made them both lose enough points to fail.
From what Midoriya overheard, the two had butted heads during the exam and the wind repelling the flames had happened multiple times. Then there was the fire that had been blown towards Shindo, which would have resulted in injury if Midoriya hadn't swooped in.
That wasn't what bothered him.
The names of those who passed had been put up on the screen, and it took him a minute to go through the list to finally see his name on the board.
He couldn't believe it. He passed.
While everyone received their results from men in suits, he was directly approached by Mera with his own results and a message.
"You did well, but remember this, the Hero Commision will be watching you," He said, and then he left.
Before getting on the bus, Midoriya had told Aizawa sensei about it. Aizawa's frown deepened a fraction, but he told him not to worry about it for now.
Obviously he was going to worry about it. He was still wondering why Nezu and Aizawa had him join class 1A for the hero licensing exam. Before that he thought the Hero Commision would try to step in and decide his fate. He was experimented on to be turned into some kind of weapon for the LOV.
Then again, he had failed that last test which led him to be put into the sleep-suspension chamber.
So what was going to happen to him now that he passed the hero license exam? He still had a lot he needed to catch up on. His school work for one and then he doesn't have any idea what the hero part of school was like beyond the short time he joined in with 1A.
His mind kept going in circles, bouncing back and forth between different ideas and what he could remember from being captured both times.
"Midoriya, we're back at the school." Aizawa stood in the aisle looking down at the winged kid who hadn't noticed that everyone else had gotten off the bus. It did not go unnoticed that the kid hadn't talked to anyone, but had stayed locked into a jumble of thoughts as he stared out the window.
"Ah," Midoriya said. He looked around to see no one else, and then scrambled out of his seat.
"So-sorry," he continued as he walked past and off the bus.
Standing next to the bus was Bakugou while the rest of the class were walking towards the main school building.
"Midoriya," Aizawa called out before he could go too far. "Go put your case in the locker room with the others. Then, feel free to go with them to the dorms to celebrate. Remember you also passed and you could use some down time."
Midoriya looked back and nodded with a shy smile.
"Bakugou, go with him," Aizawa added, but before the blonde could go, he placed his hand on his shoulder. In a quieter voice he continued. "Watch him for me, he's still coming to terms with a lot."
