As they stepped back into the gallery, the air was thick with tension and the remnants of chaos. Elara’s heart pounded as she moved alongside Adrean, searching for any remaining guests who might need help. The sounds of muffled conversations and the occasional whimper filled the air, a stark reminder of the terror they had just faced.

“Alright, team, let’s split up,” Adrean said, his voice steady. “Elara and I will check the back rooms. Ethan, you and Anayra take the main area. Luca, keep an eye on the entrance—make sure no one else comes in.”

Luca grinned, leaning against the wall. “Ah, the gatekeeper! I like the sound of that. I’d make a terrible bouncer though; I’d just let everyone in for free.”

Anayra rolled her eyes but couldn’t suppress a smile. “Right, because we definitely need more chaos right now.”

“Hey, chaos is my middle name!” Luca replied, puffing out his chest dramatically.

Ethan chuckled, shaking his head. “I think it’s more like ‘mischief’ or ‘troublemaker,’ honestly.”

Elara felt a small wave of relief wash over her. In the midst of the night’s horrors, their banter provided a welcome distraction. She turned to Adrean, who was already moving toward the back rooms. “Ready?” he asked, his expression serious.

“Yeah, let’s do this,” she replied, trying to match his determination.

As they made their way down the dimly lit hallway, Elara couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off. The tension in the air felt thicker here, and the shadows seemed to dance unnaturally along the walls.

“Do you think everyone is okay?” Elara asked, glancing back at Adrean.

“I hope so,” he replied, his voice low. “But we need to be prepared for anything.”

They reached the first door and pushed it open, revealing a storage room filled with art supplies and canvases. The sight was surreal after the chaos outside.

“Looks clear,” Adrean said, stepping inside. “Let’s check the next one.”

As they moved down the hall, Elara heard a muffled sound coming from a nearby room. “Did you hear that?” she whispered, her heart racing.

“Yeah, let’s check it out,” Adrean replied, moving cautiously toward the sound.

He pushed the door open, and to their surprise, they found a small group of guests huddled together, fear evident in their eyes. “You’re safe!” one of them exclaimed, relief flooding their faces.

“Thank goodness!” another added. “We thought we were trapped!”

Elara felt a wave of gratitude. “We’re here to help,” she said, her voice steady. “Is everyone alright?”

As they reassured the guests, Adrean glanced around the room, his protective instincts kicking in. “Stay close to us,” he instructed. “We’ll get you out of here.”

Suddenly, there was a loud crash from the main area. Elara’s heart dropped, and she exchanged a worried glance with Adrean. “What was that?” she asked, anxiety creeping back in.

“Let’s check it out,” he said, and they quickly led the group toward the sound.

When they reached the main room, what they saw left them stunned. Ethan and Anayra stood surrounded by a small group of guests, all laughing hysterically.

Luca was at the center of it, dramatically reenacting the chaotic moments from earlier, complete with exaggerated gestures and facial expressions. “And then I said, ‘Not today, villain!’” he declared, striking a superhero pose. “I mean, seriously, if they wanted art, they could have just asked nicely!”
