The sun shone brightly the next day, casting a warm glow over the city as Elara and Adrean eagerly prepared for their lunch date. They had planned this outing to celebrate their engagement, and the excitement buzzed in the air. Elara slipped into a light sundress, the fabric soft against her skin, and she glanced in the mirror, feeling a rush of happiness as she tucked a few loose strands of hair behind her ear.
“Are you ready?” Adrean called from the living room, his voice filled with anticipation.
“Almost!” Elara replied, adding a touch of lip gloss. She grabbed her bag and headed out, her heart racing in time with her footsteps.
They walked hand in hand, the familiarity of their routine grounding them as they approached their favorite bistro. It was a charming little spot, tucked away from the main street, known for its delightful sandwiches and warm atmosphere. Elara could already smell the fresh bread wafting through the air as they entered.
“Table for two?” the hostess asked, her smile brightening the room.
“Yes, please,” Adrean replied, leading Elara to a cozy booth by the window. They settled in, the sunlight streaming through the glass and illuminating their faces.
As they browsed the menu, Elara’s excitement bubbled over. “I can’t believe we’re engaged! It feels surreal,” she said, looking up at Adrean.
“It does, doesn’t it?” he replied, a soft smile playing on his lips. “But it’s real, and I can’t wait to see where this takes us.”
Just as they began to discuss their meal choices, a familiar voice interrupted them. “Surprise!” Luca exclaimed, strumming his guitar as he approached their table, a wide grin plastered across his face. “I couldn’t resist crashing your romantic lunch!”
Elara’s surprise quickly transformed into delight. “Luca! What are you doing here?”
“Just spreading some musical cheer!” he replied, winking. “How about a little serenade for the happy couple?”
Adrean chuckled, shaking his head in mock disapproval. “You do know this is supposed to be a private moment, right?”
“Private moments are overrated!” Luca declared, launching into a cheerful song about love, friendship, and the joy of unexpected surprises. His fingers danced over the strings, and the melody filled the café, drawing the attention of nearby diners.
Elara laughed, her heart swelling with affection for her friend. “You’re ridiculous!”
As Luca finished his song, he struck a pose, his guitar raised triumphantly. “And that, my friends, is why I should be the opening act at your wedding!”
“Maybe we’ll have you as the entertainment,” Adrean joked, nudging Elara playfully. “But only if you promise to keep it PG.”
“Deal!” Luca replied, leaning back in his chair. “But seriously, you guys are great together. Just make sure to keep Ethan away from the wedding planning. He’ll probably try to talk you into a ‘no-fun’ zone.”
Elara raised an eyebrow. “You think so? He has his serious moments, but I think he cares more than he lets on.”
Luca nodded, gesturing dramatically. “Oh, definitely! But he’s like a turtle—always hiding in his shell when things get too emotional.”
Just then, the door swung open, and in walked Ethan. He glanced around the room, and upon spotting Elara and Adrean, he quickly ducked behind a nearby column, attempting to remain inconspicuous.
“Speaking of turtles,” Luca said, catching sight of Ethan’s awkward attempt to hide. “Look who just entered the scene.”
Elara and Adrean continued their conversation, oblivious to Ethan’s presence, while Luca couldn’t help but chuckle quietly to himself.
