The following day, the excitement in the air was palpable as news spread about the grand opening of the town’s new funfair. Elara could hardly contain her enthusiasm as she painted with Adrean, their mural nearing completion. Just as she was about to dip her brush into a vibrant red, her phone buzzed with a message from Luca.

“Hey, Adrean! You coming to the funfair tonight? It’s going to be epic!”

Adrean looked up, a grin spreading across his face. “Luca’s inviting me to the funfair! I should totally go. It sounds like a blast.”

“Definitely! You should,” Elara replied, her eyes sparkling with excitement. “Do you want to invite someone?”

“Actually, I was thinking about inviting you,” Adrean said, his tone casual but hopeful. “It could be fun to hang out outside the studio for once.”

Elara felt a flutter in her stomach. “I’d love to go! But… I also want to invite Ethan. It wouldn’t feel right without him.”

Adrean’s expression shifted slightly, but he nodded. “Sure, that makes sense. The more, the merrier, right?”

“Exactly!” Elara said, her heart lifting at the thought of a fun night with both of them. Just then, Adrean’s phone buzzed again.

“Looks like Luca’s texting me now,” he said, reading the message aloud. “He’s asking if I can bring anyone. Maybe I should invite Nayra since she keeps bugging me about hanging out.”

Elara raised an eyebrow, smirking. “Nayra? Are you sure you want to invite her? You know she can be quite the handful.”

“Believe me, I know,” Adrean replied with a chuckle. “But maybe it’ll be nice to have her around. Plus, she might lighten the mood.”

That evening, they all gathered at the entrance of the funfair, the air buzzing with laughter and the smell of popcorn. Luca spotted Adrean first and waved enthusiastically. “You made it! And you brought friends!” His eyes widened as he took in Elara and Ethan, then Nayra, who had just arrived, her arms crossed and a skeptical look on her face.

“Yeah, I figured we could all use a night of fun,” Adrean said, trying to keep the mood light.

“What’s up, Nayra? Excited to embrace the chaos?” Ethan teased as he nudged her playfully.

Nayra rolled her eyes dramatically. “Excited? More like dreading the inevitable embarrassment that comes with hanging out with you all.”

“What, are you afraid of the funfair? It’s just rides and games!” Ethan shot back, grinning. “Unless you’re scared of clowns or something.”

“Please! I’m not scared of anything,” Nayra retorted, though her posture gave away a hint of discomfort. “I just think funfairs are a waste of time. Who wants to stand in line for a ride that lasts two minutes?”

Luca, oblivious to the tension, chimed in. “Come on, it’ll be fun! And there’s a haunted house. You can’t miss that!”

Nayra’s eyes widened. “Haunted house? No way! I’m not going in there. I refuse to look like a scaredy-cat in front of you guys.”

“Aw, come on, Nayra! Don’t tell me you’re afraid of a few fake ghosts and ghouls,” Adrean teased, a playful grin on his face. “I thought you were cool.”

“Cool? Me? Of course! I just prefer my coolness to be intact, thank you very much,” Nayra shot back, crossing her arms defiantly.

“Looks like someone’s not ready for a thrilling adventure,” Ethan teased, leaning closer to her. “I mean, what’s scarier? The haunted house or your personality?”
