Three days had passed since the chaotic night at the gallery, and the air felt lighter as Elara strolled through the quaint streets of their town. The sun was shining, and the world seemed to be buzzing with life. She was still processing everything that had happened—Ethan’s confession, her own feelings, and the lingering tension with Adrean.

Today, she had plans to meet Luca for lunch. He had insisted on treating her to his favorite café, and she had reluctantly agreed, knowing that her ever-energetic friend could be quite persuasive when he wanted to be.

As she arrived at the café, she spotted Luca already at a table, animatedly waving his arms as he spoke to someone beside him. Elara approached, her heart racing slightly as she realized who it was—Adrean.

“Surprise!” Luca exclaimed, grinning widely as she sat down. “I thought it’d be fun to have a little lunch party. Plus, you two need to catch up!”

“Hey, Elara,” Adrean said, offering a slight smile. His presence sent a familiar warmth through her, but she quickly shook off any lingering thoughts of their previous interactions. Today was about enjoying food and friendship.

“Hi! I didn’t know you’d be here,” she replied, trying to keep her voice light.

Luca leaned in, his eyes sparkling with mischief. “I’m just full of surprises! Like a magician at a children’s party, but with fewer rabbits and more sandwiches.”

Elara chuckled, but her thoughts drifted back to Ethan. She had decided to take her time with her feelings, unsure of how to navigate the budding emotions swirling around her.

“So, how’s the art scene treating you?” Luca asked, picking up a menu. “Any new masterpieces in the works?”

“Nothing major,” Elara replied, glancing at Adrean. “Just trying to get back into the groove after everything.”

“Speaking of everything,” Luca said, lowering his voice conspiratorially, “I heard a little birdie say that Ethan confessed his feelings for you. What’s the scoop?”

Elara’s heart skipped a beat, and she felt her cheeks flush. “Oh, that. It was… unexpected.”

“Unexpected? More like a plot twist worthy of a soap opera!” Luca exclaimed, leaning back in his chair dramatically. “So, are you going to accept his love declaration? Or are you going to leave him hanging like a forgotten piece of art in a dusty gallery?”

“I haven’t really decided yet,” Elara admitted, biting her lip. “I mean, Ethan is great, but…”

“But?” Luca pressed, his eyes narrowing playfully. “There’s always a ‘but.’ What’s the ‘but’?”

Elara hesitated, feeling the weight of her secret. “Well, I actually have feelings for someone else.”

“Someone else?” Luca repeated, his eyebrows shooting up. “Do I know this lucky person? Is it someone from the art scene? Are we talking about secret admirers or that brooding artist you keep exchanging glances with?”

Elara felt her heart race at the mention of Adrean, but she quickly shook her head. “No, no, it’s not him. Just… someone else entirely.”

“Ah, the elusive ‘someone else.’ The mystery deepens!” Luca said, pretending to ponder. “Is it anyone I know? Because if it’s not, I’m going to need to stage an intervention.”

“Luca, I can’t just spill everything,” Elara said, laughing. “Some secrets are meant to be kept.”

Adrean, who had been mostly quiet, finally spoke up, a teasing glint in his eye. “You know, if you keep us in suspense, we might start to think it’s someone really scandalous. Like a rock star or a secret agent.”
