Chapter 18 Playfully
Ren's POV:
My heart was racing as I sat in bed with Fil, feeling like a bundle of nerves. After everything-the ceremony, the celebration-I was suddenly here, alone with him, and he looked so... eager. I couldn't handle it. Without thinking, I grabbed a pillow and placed it right in the middle of the bed between us.
Fil raised an eyebrow, looking at the pillow and then at me, before bursting into laughter. "Are you serious? You're my wife now!" His tone was teasing, but I could tell he was trying to figure out what was going on.
Flustered, I mumbled, "It was your decision to marry me. I... I'm not ready for... that." My cheeks burned, and I quickly pulled the blanket up to my chin, hoping he'd let it go.
He chuckled, lying back and watching me with amusement in his eyes. "Alright, alright," he said softly, letting it be, even though I could tell he was a little exasperated. But he didn't push me; he just let me be, and that made me love him even more.

Fil's POV:
I'd been looking forward to this moment ever since I saw Ren walking down the aisle toward me. But now, lying in bed with her and this ridiculous pillow between us, I couldn't help but laugh. She was so shy, so nervous, and I'd never seen her quite like this before. Part of me wanted to reach over, pull her close, and reassure her, but I knew that would just embarrass her more. So I let her keep her pillow barrier, amused at the situation, and maybe a little disappointed. But for her, I'd wait as long as she needed.

The Next Morning: Ren's POV
When I woke up, Fil was still fast asleep. I felt a little bad for last night, so I thought I'd make it up to him with a bit of fun. Grabbing a pen, I carefully leaned over and started doodling on his face, trying to hold back my laughter as I worked. Tiny hearts, stars, and little designs covered his cheeks. Satisfied, I quietly slipped out of the room, unable to stop grinning.
A few minutes later, I heard a groan from down the hall, and I knew he'd seen his reflection. Fil stumbled into the kitchen, clearly irritated, so I handed him a cup of coffee, trying to act innocent. He took a big sip, but almost immediately his face scrunched up in horror. My heart stopped-I'd accidentally put salt instead of sugar!
"Ren, what... did you do to this?" he sputtered, glaring at me as he spit it out in the sink.
I burst into laughter, clutching my stomach as he shot me a look that was somewhere between exasperation and amusement. But then his expression changed, his eyes narrowing, a playful but dangerous glint there.
"Ren," he said in a low voice, "you'd better hide. Because when I catch you, you're going to pay."
My heart skipped a beat, and before I knew it, I'd turned and run, his footsteps following close behind. I couldn't stop laughing as I ran, his words echoing in my head: this was far from over.

Fil's POV:
When I woke up and stumbled to the mirror, I froze, staring at my face in disbelief. Little hearts and stars covered my cheeks. I felt both ridiculous and amused, but mostly, I wanted to find Ren.
I went to the kitchen, trying to keep my irritation in check, and there she was, acting all innocent as she handed me a cup of coffee. I took a big sip, hoping it'd wake me up, but then-ugh! I practically spit it out. Salty! I shot her a look, realizing she'd messed up, probably by accident this time, but her laughter only made me more determined.
"Ren," I said, a smirk spreading across my face. "You'd better hide, because once I catch you..." She froze, her eyes wide, before she bolted, laughing as she ran down the hall.
I couldn't help but laugh, setting the cup down and taking off after her. When I found her, she was definitely going to learn what it meant to be my wife. And this time, there would be no pillow to save her.
