Chapter 4: The Resignation

Ren sat at her desk, staring at the letter in her hands. It was her resignation. After weeks of tension between her and Fil, she had finally made the decision. The job at Business Enterprises had been a great opportunity, but the complications with Fil had grown too much. His possessive nature and his constant attempts to win her over were suffocating. She couldn't stay any longer, not when her freedom was at stake.

She had already saved enough money, and her dream of going to Paris was within reach. It was time to move on, to start fresh in a place where she could be truly independent.

With a deep breath, she walked to Fil office, the resignation letter clutched tightly in her hand. Her heart raced, but she knew this was the right thing to do. She knocked on the door, and when Fil deep voice called for her to enter, she stepped inside, her resolve firm.

Fil looked up from his desk, his sharp eyes locking onto hers immediately. There was a tension in the air, and Ren could feel it pressing down on her. She approached his desk, holding out the letter.

"I'm resigning," Ren said calmly, though her heart pounded in her chest. "I've decided it's time for me to move on."

Fil expression hardened, his jaw tightening as he took the letter from her. He opened it, scanning the contents, and then placed it down on his desk with a heavy thud.

"You're leaving?" he said, his voice low, barely containing his anger. "Just like that?"

Ren nodded. "Yes. I've saved enough, and I've decided to go to Paris. I need to live my life, Fil. I've worked hard for this, and I want to experience the world, on my own terms."

Ren POV

This is it. I've made my decision. I can't stay here, not with everything becoming so complicated between us.

Fil stood, his presence looming as he stepped closer to her. "You think you can just walk away?" His voice was calm, but there was a possessive edge that sent a chill down her spine. "I won't let you go, Ren. Not now."

"Fil," Ren said, meeting his intense gaze, "this isn't about you. I want my freedom. I want to go to Paris, find a job there, and live life the way I've always dreamed of. It's not about the money or the job. I just... I need this for myself."

Fil expression softened for a brief moment, but only for an instant. "You think you can leave me behind?" he asked, his voice quieter but no less intense. "I'm in love with you, Ren. It's not just about how smart you are. You're kind. You care about people. You've helped so many here-supporting others, offering advice. You're more than just my secretary. You're the one I need."

Fil POV

She doesn't understand what she means to me. I can't let her go. She's become my support, my strength.

Ren felt her heart tighten, but she stayed firm. "I'm flattered, Fil, but I can't stay. I want to be free, to live without complications. I don't want to be tied down by anything right now, especially not by emotions I'm not ready for."

Fil stepped even closer, his eyes never leaving hers. "I don't care if you're ready or not. I won't let you walk away from me. You can't go to Paris. I'll make sure you have everything you need right here."

Ren shook her head. "You can't control me, Fil. I've made my decision. I'm leaving."

The room filled with silence, the tension between them palpable. Fil face darkened with determination, and Ren knew that this wasn't going to be the end of it. He wasn't the type of man to let someone walk away easily, especially not someone he had come to care about so deeply.

"You're not going anywhere," Fil said quietly, his voice filled with certainty. "Not without me."

Ren breath caught in her throat. She knew Fil was possessive, but she hadn't realized just how far he was willing to go. She turned and left the office, feeling his gaze burning into her back. She had made her choice, but she knew Fil wouldn't let her go easily. And as her plans for Paris became more real, she realized that her journey to freedom might be more complicated than she had ever anticipated.
