Chapter 17: The Wedding Day

Ren POV

The day had arrived.

Paris, the city of dreams, stretched out before me from the windows of the luxurious penthouse where I was getting ready. The Eiffel Tower glimmered in the distance, framed by a clear blue sky. But the magic of the city couldn't reach me-not today.

Everything was set. The wedding was happening, and it was as extravagant as Fil had promised. The dress, the venue, the guests-it was a fairy tale on the surface, but I couldn't shake the feeling that I was living someone else's story.

My wedding dress was draped over the edge of the bed, a masterpiece of silk and lace, custom-designed by one of the top names in fashion. It sparkled under the morning light, and yet, I felt cold staring at it. Every part of this day was perfect-on paper.

I was meant to be walking into my future, but it didn't feel like my future at all.

Fil POV

Everything was flawless. As I stood in front of the mirror, adjusting my cufflinks, I couldn't help but smile at the thought of what today meant. The world would finally see Ren as mine-my wife. She looked stunning in that dress, and I had made sure she had the best of everything.

The cathedral was waiting, filled with the most important people from across the globe. This wasn't just a wedding; it was a declaration. Ren belonged to me, and everyone would know it by the end of the day.

I glanced at my reflection and thought about how hard I'd worked for this moment. I wasn't the kind of man who let things slip through his fingers, and Ren was no exception. I had planned every detail of this wedding, just as I had planned to make her mine from the moment she walked into my office.

Today, I was sealing that bond forever.

Ren POV

My heart pounded as I stood before the mirror, looking at myself in the dress. The woman staring back at me looked like a bride from a dream. Yet I felt like I was disappearing. My thoughts kept spiraling-what if I walked away? What if I didn't go through with it? But I knew better. Fil wouldn't let that happen.

A knock at the door pulled me from my thoughts. One of the attendants peeked in, smiling nervously.

"It's time, Miss Ren."

My stomach flipped, and my heart felt like it was sinking. There was no escaping this now. The world was waiting, and so was Fil.

Fil POV

I stood at the altar, my brown eyes scanning the grand cathedral, taking in the sight of our perfect wedding. The music began to play softly, signaling Ren arrival.

When she stepped through the doors, my heart raced. She looked breathtaking-every bit the woman I had imagined standing by my side. I couldn't wait for the moment when we'd be pronounced husband and wife.

As she walked down the aisle, our eyes locked. I could see the hesitation in her gaze, but I knew she would adjust. Once she was mine, she would accept this life and all the luxury that came with it.

Ren POV

With every step down the aisle, it felt like the distance between me and my old self grew wider. The opulence around me, the beauty of Paris, the perfection of the wedding-it was all a mask for the cage I was walking into.

Fil stood at the altar, his eyes locked on mine. He looked every bit the powerful, controlling man I had come to know. And yet, there was something in his gaze, a possessiveness that made my skin crawl. I was about to be his wife, and there was no turning back now.

The music swelled, and as I reached him, I felt my heart tighten. This was it. The vows were spoken, the rings exchanged, and in a matter of minutes, the officiant asked the most critical question.

"Do you, Fil, take Ren to be your lawfully wedded wife?"

I watched as Fil face lit up with joy. "I do," he said, his voice steady and filled with conviction.

The officiant turned to me. "And do you, Ren, take Fil to be your lawfully wedded husband?"

All eyes were on me, and I hesitated, my breath catching in my throat. In that moment, I felt the weight of the world on my shoulders. But the thought of what would happen if I didn't answer sent a chill down my spine.

"I do," I finally said, the words slipping out before I could reconsider.

"Now, by the power vested in me, I pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."

Fil pulled me close, his brown eyes flashing with victory. As his lips pressed against mine, I knew my life would never be the same again.
