Chapter 12: The Breaking Point
Fil sat in his private office, the dim light from the setting sun casting long shadows across the room. His phone lay on the desk, the latest report from Leo open on the screen. It was everything he had asked for-and more. Every detail of Ren life in London was laid out before him. Her daily routines, where she shopped, what she liked to eat, and-most importantly-who she was spending her time with.
That last piece of information made his blood boil. Ren had been seen with another man. Fil jaw clenched as he stared at the photos sent by his investigator, showing Ren walking through London with a guy at her side. They looked comfortable together, laughing, enjoying the city. The idea that she could be moving on without him was unbearable.
Fil POV
Who is he? Fil thought angrily, his mind racing. How dare she choose someone else over me?
The rational part of his mind told him that Ren had always been independent, always valued her freedom. But the possessive part-the part that had been growing stronger with every passing day-couldn't accept it. Ren was his. She belonged with him, and no one else.
Fil pushed back from his desk, pacing the room as the anger built inside him. He thought back to everything he had learned about Ren since she left. Her strengths, her vulnerabilities. He had studied her closely-her fear of being controlled, her desire for freedom, her independence. These were her weaknesses, as far as he was concerned, and Fil knew he could exploit them. He would show her that no matter how far she ran or who she chose to be with, she would always belong to him.
His phone buzzed again, a follow-up message from his investigator.
Investigator's Message:
The man's name is Friend. Childhood friend. They seem close, but nothing romantic so far. That didn't calm Fil fury. Even if they weren't involved, the fact that Ren was with another man, confiding in him, relying on him, was enough to drive Fil into a spiral of possessiveness. He felt a surge of jealousy at the thought of Friend being so close to her-closer than he was now.
Fil POV
I've given her space. I've waited long enough. Now, it's time to bring her back where she belongs. With me.
He sat down again, composing himself. This wasn't just about emotion anymore. It was about strategy. He had studied Ren weaknesses, and now he would use them. Fil would play to her desire for independence, but in a way that would ultimately bring her back to him. He would offer her everything she wanted-a perfect life, the freedom she craved-but only on his terms.
Fil Thoughts
She thinks she can escape me. She thinks she can build a life without me. But she's wrong. I'll make sure she sees that no one can love her the way I do. No one can protect her like I can.
A dark determination settled over him as he picked up his phone and made arrangements to fly to London immediately. There was no more time to waste. Ren was slipping away from him, and the thought of losing her to another man-especially this "Friend"-was something Fil couldn't accept.
I'll find you, Ren, he thought as he booked his flight. And when I do, you'll have no choice but to be mine.
