Chapter 9: The Hunt

In a luxurious penthouse overlooking the Paris skyline, Fil paced back and forth, his jaw clenched in frustration. He had made a series of calls to his contacts in the city, but no one had been able to track down Ren. It was as if she had vanished into thin air, and the thought of her being out there without him ignited a deep-seated anger within him.

How could she just leave? Fil mind raced with questions and doubts. She's mine. She should be with me, not off exploring the world without a care.

His frustration mounted as he recalled their last conversation, her words echoing in his mind. "I'm making my own choices, Fil" He hated the feeling of helplessness that settled over him. The idea of Ren living freely, enjoying her life without him, was unbearable.

Fil reached for his phone and dialed a number he knew by heart. It rang only once before a familiar voice answered.

"Fil! What's up?" Leo asked, his tone light and casual.

"Leo," Fil replied, his voice low and serious. "I need your help. I can't find Ren."

There was a pause on the other end, and Fil could almost hear Leo processing the situation. "What do you mean you can't find her? I thought you were in Paris?"

"I was," Fil said tersely. "I tracked her here because she mentioned wanting to come. But now I can't find her anywhere. It's like she disappeared. I need you to find her. Check everywhere in the city-and beyond. I want you to track her down across Europe if you have to."

Leo tone shifted to one of concern. "You're serious, aren't you? Why are you so determined to find her?"

"Because she's my fiancée," Fil snapped, frustration boiling over. "I can't lose her. I won't let her go."

"Fil, if she's made the decision to leave-"

"I don't care!" Fil interrupted. "She doesn't understand how dangerous it is to be alone right now. She needs me, whether she realizes it or not. Just do it, Leo. I need you on this."

"Okay, okay," Leo said, his voice steady. "I'll track her down. I have some contacts in other cities. I'll reach out and see what I can find. But Fil, you need to keep your cool. She'll come around."

Fil anger simmered, but he nodded, knowing Leo was right. He needed to be patient. "Just keep me updated, all right? I can't lose her, Leo. Not after everything."

"I'll do my best," Leo promised. "Just give me some time."

As Fil hung up the phone, a sense of determination settled over him. He would find Ren, no matter how far he had to go or how many connections he had to call in. The thought of her being out there on her own, experiencing life without him, was intolerable. He felt a possessive need to protect her, to bring her back to where she belonged-with him.

In that moment, he resolved to pull every string he had, leveraging his wealth and influence to track Ren down. He would not rest until she was back at his side, safe and secure. The anger and desperation coursing through him fueled his determination, and he began to plan his next steps.

Ren, wherever you are, I'll find you, he vowed silently. You can run, but you can't hide from me.
