Key Nine: Breather:
A dull light hit Allen's eyelids. The angel slowly opened his eyes. He was still alive. That shouldn't be a surprise. He was an angel after all. However, he knew it wasn't a dream. Because it wasn't. Not like she was going to let him die so easily. Why would she let her favorite toy die? That wouldn't be fun for her, now would it?
Allen tried to sit up. However, he found that something was holding him in place. The angel didn't want to see where this was going. Despite this, he looked down. His wrists were cuffed down to a hospital bed. Not with metal cuffs, but plastic zip ties. Who could've seen this coming? She wasn't going to let him wander off on his own, would he? Allen laid his head back, cursing himself.
Now what?
Suddenly, the door opened. Allen looked up to see Doctor Road poking her head in the doorway.
"Oh good, you're finally awake," she said.
"What was that?" Allen asked. Road gave him a curious look.
"Hm?" she asked. "You went deeper into your head and we gave you a little toxin to bring you back." The doctor slipped into the room. She closed the door behind her. Allen didn't want to think about what she was going to do to him next.
"Why are you doing this?" he asked. He realized that was a dumb question. Road chuckled to herself.
"You are so cute," she said. The doctor licked her lips. Allen shivered. What else could she do to him? Road walked over to his bed. The angel screamed at her to get away from him. She leaned in close to his side. Road turned his face toward her.
"You know how you can end all of this," the monster whispered. Allen quickly shook his head.
"I won't do it," he said in a soft voice. The doctor frowned. She clicked her tongue.
Slap!
Allen winced.
"Wrong answer," Road growled. The angel shivered. She was going to destroy him one way or another. His captor smiled.
"Allen," she said. The angel glanced up as he rubbed his cheek.
"What?" he asked. She reached out and caressed his other cheek.
"I do this because I love you," Road said. This was not love. Love was not supposed to hurt like this. She didn't see him as someone to love. He was just a sex object to her.
Road grabbed him by the face. Her face grew grim.
"You better make up your mind soon," she said. "You have no idea how far I can push this." The patient froze. Road's lips curved into a little smile.
"Your surgery will be in thirty minutes," she said. She turned and walked to the door. Just before stepping out, the doctor looked over her shoulder.
"See you then," Road cooed. And then she was gone.
Allen laid back down as his heart sank. He didn't want to think of how much worse this could get. Or how much longer he could take this.
