I walked into the cafe, my gaze scanning the surroundings. Finally, I saw her sitting there comfortably while reading a book. I approached her and when she heard my footsteps, she looked up to see me with those ocean eyes- Those Glimmering ocean eyes. Viella stood up and was about to bow when I stopped her "Don't. It's fine. Sit down," I spoke in a tender tone and then gestured for her to sit, I took the seat in front of her.
"So, Why did you want to see me?" I said, Her fingers started to fidget "I just want to apologize" My face turned into utter confusion "For what?" as I tilted my head slightly "For... speaking bad about you at the banquet...I didn't know you were Aurelia's older brother" Her voice became lower, I didn't think that she would feel bad about what she said, after all my reputation is already bad as it is, and I'm used to people talking behind my back, but this is the first time someone apologized to me without being forced.
"There's no need, I'm used to it" The words "confusion" and "surprise" are written on her face "However I have a question" As I was speaking, Her gaze landed on my untidy necktie, a sign that I had been in such a hurry I hadn't noticed it was out of place. She chuckled and insisted on doing it for me, Viella stood up and walked over to my side, she bend down to fixed up the tie, our faces were so close to each other, So close that I could hear her soft breathing, and somehow I felt my face heating up.
I cleared my throat, trying to compose myself, "How did you get my number, Carmine?" Suddenly, the sound of shattering glass echoed behind her, making us both stop and turn to witness Margaret dropping two glasses of milkshake on the floor, the café felt silent, and other customers were staring at us. "I saw...nothing," Margaret's face took on a smug expression, her lips curling into a sly smirk "Right guys?" She asked the customers, some were giggling while others nodded, agreeing with her "Right, we saw nothing, don't worry, continue your conversation" Margaret started cleaning the shattered glass with the smug expression still on her face. Viella sat down and stayed silent as we both felt embarrassed about what just happened but then her Phone rang, reminding her that she had a notification "Who is that?" i asked, she took it out to see who it was "Theo... my ex fiance," Viella mumbled then looks at me as she hides her phone "Anyways Uhm... Aurelia gave it to me," of course, that traitor, who would it be other than Aurelia? however, why is she still intouch with Theo..
My eyebrows furrowed, and she immediately noticed "I asked her if she could give it to me, it wasn't her fault so don't be mad at her" Mad? Why would I be mad? It's the opposite. "Did you call me here to apologize?" I'm sure it wasn't just because of that, But I don't mind, You can take my time anytime you want "No, I wanted to ask why you didn't tell me you were 'the Luciano Delacroix' at the church" What? "But I thought you knew," I thought you already knew, her face turned into utter confusion again "Wasn't it on Aurelia's invitation? Her last name?"
She gasps then she covers her mouth "It was...?" I chuckled as I watched her feel confused "You must've been tired, so you didn't notice it" Viella covered her face with her palms, feeling embarrassed "I'm so sorry" She said in a low voice "It's fine Carmine" she slides aside her index finger, revealing her beautiful eye "Were you the one who told Aurelia to invite me?" She figured things out quickly "I was" I responded with a small smile "If you knew my name from the beginning, Then why do you still call me Carmine?" the question I didn't expect to come. I don't want to tell her the truth yet, I like calling her Car'mine, It's cute and it suits her well "Are you uncomfortable with it?" maybe a cold demeanor can change the subject "No, it's just... weird" she says while scratching the back of her neck, it's weird? But I thought it would be romantic "Do you want me to stop calling you Carmine?" I hope not, Because I can't think of any more nicknames "It's up to you" I smiled at her response, She never fails to surprise me.
"Then it's settled, I'll keep calling you Carmine" Viella nodded and smiled, Even her smile Was beautiful "Margaret is taking a while getting our drinks, I should go check on her" She stood up and walked towards the counter, But suddenly, without warning, a loud thud was heard behind me, I looked to see Viella collapsed. Immediately, I ran to her side and scooped her into my arms, it's okay we can take her by the car...wait, I left my car.
At a perfect time, I heard Margaret behind me "What happened?" She gasped as she saw Viella unconscious and accidentally dropped the second batch of milkshakes "Hurry! Call the Ambulance!" I shouted at her as the people inside the café approached us, This gotta be because of her tumor, but I didn't think that it was this bad already. I held her in my arms when I heard the ambulance outside.
We arrived at the hospital, and Margaret came with me, They Examined the cause of her collapsing and then placed her in bed with an IV dextrose. "Are you her friend?" The Doctor Entered, Both Margaret and I, got up from the sofa "How is she doctor Liam?" Worry was written on our faces "She...has she taken the pills I gave you?" Pills? What pills? What pills has he been giving her? "The...one without a label?" Liam nodded at Margaret's question "I think so?" She answers, No label? Isn't that a crime? Questions rushed into my mind, but then suddenly we heard a rustling sound from behind "Vie?"
Margaret immediately rushed to her side as Viella tried to sit up "No, lay down, your head must still be hurting" Liam approached Viella and asked "Ms. Viella, you need to take medicine to recover from your Lack of sleep, take a pill one time in a day" Viella nodded while she placed her palm on top of her head "I must've forgotten this morning, thank you for reminding me" she smiled as Liam exited the room, and then I approached her "If you need anything just tell, and also the hospital bill is already paid, so no need to worry about it" She smiled at me in response and I smiled back at her.
As I was about to turn and leave, I paused for a moment "And...Don't delete my number on your phone" After that I walked out of the room, I couldn't believe I was able to tell her that, I continued to smile as I tried to find the car I left on the road.
I arrived at the company, Everyone greeted me as usual, and by the time I entered my office I saw Alexandra inside while sipping her tea on my sofa, I closed the door and didn't even bother looking at her face the second time.
Casually, as if no one was there, I made my way to my desk "What were you doing with her?" I felt her gaze behind me "You are quite adept at being nosy about other people's matters-" I sat at my chair "-Ever heard of bad habits?" out of anger she threw the teacup towards me, but I pushed my chair Causing me to dodge the flying teacup "Your paying for that" I added, Anger was written on her face "I asked if you met her!" she shouted at me, so I glared at her "I did, can you do anything about it?" She threw something at me, this time it was a pillow "The marriage will be happening whether you like it or not! So I better not see you with that Girl until I finish preparing for the wedding!" how dare she order me? Alexandra took her purse, stood up, and was about to leave "First you trespassed into my office, then second you ordered me to avoid Viella," She paused upon hearing a cold voice behind her "If even a single strand of your hair is found within this company premises, I will not hesitate to initiate legal action against your parents' company." My voice was cold and distant, lacking any hint of warmth or emotion. She crashed the vase beside the door before leaving.
