SPENCERAs soon as we hit land my eyes opened at the jolt. The sky fading into the darker colors of the night as the moon began it's rise.
"Hey there Pretty boy, how'd you sleep?" Derek howled from the other side of the jet.
"What time is it?" I asked, my voice still covered by sleepy tones.
"Half past nine." Answered JJ with a smile from right next to me. "Hotch wants us in to fill some paperwork so we can start early tomorrow."
I just nodded, sitting back up. This case wasn't exactly a difficult one. The Unsub was a bored chemistry student wanting to do some experiments on his classmates. He created a poison in the lab that he put in the food. He didn't even bother to cover up his traces. Left witnesses, DNA traces, so it wasn't exactly hard to find him. Honestly, i didn't even know why we were called in. As soon as he was cuffed Hotch informed us that Strauss had a case waiting for us at the headquarter. It was the first time that our section chief selected a case for us, so we didn't quite know what to expect.
As the door of the jet flung open and we all went straight to the black cars waiting ahead of us, directed to the FBI. The ride was pleasant. Derek kept telling us stories of his one-night stands while me and Prentiss broke of laughter. Once we parked we entered the almost empty building. Flashing our IDs we headed to the elevator and to the thirteenth floor. Even if it sounded bad, that place felt more of a home to me than my actual home. I've spent more time in than bullpen than anywhere else. I opened the glass door ad let my friends enter before me. The office, as the whole building, was quite empty. The occasional Agent at their desk and the rest of the team, who ha arrived before us. JJ was at her desk moving things around while on the phone. Hotch and Rossi were talking by his office with a file in their hands. I let my satchel slide on the edge of my desk as i sat down, reaching for some files.
An hour flies by without even though it doesn't seem. My eyes start to close on their own so I decided to gather my things and head back home. Instead of heading for the elevator i went down the hall to reach Garcia's office, i hadn't even greeted her. I knocked on the door and before a second passes by, she shouted to come in.
"Hey there Boy Genius. What can my humble person do for you this night?" she asked leaning on her seat.
"Nothing much. I Just wanted to see how you were doing"I pointed out, sitting in a chair near her.
"Now that is sweet. Nothing much. Getting ready some last things done before heading out but I think that I'll have to stay in a little late.." a smile forming on
"Why are you in so late? You usually go home earlier."
"Well, if you must know, i was shouting at the head director of the lab unit. They still haven't sent in the reports on our case, and Hotch got quite pissed, if i can say. They foist some damn excuses and so I also got mad. However, after a hot while shouting, they assured me they'll have them ready in a few." she paused a second before continuing "I think i scared them"
"Garcia, trust me, you scared them enough. You scare me sometimes."
My life was an ongoing game I never understood the rules to. Every day i went to work non knowing if i actually could go back home. Garcia has always been there for me, during my ups and lows. I could talk to her about anything and she would just smile and give me an answer far from the rational ones I'd give myself.
