SOFIA
We all took a seat at the round table before the blonde began to speak handing to each one a file.
"Nashville, Tennessee. Five foster families were poisoned in the last two weeks. We have a total of twenty-two victims."she paused a second before continuing. "twelve of them were kids, all under the age of fourteen."
Everyone gasped. I don't know much but I sure know that cases with kids involved were the worst.
"Twenty-two victims in two weeks. Why on earth didn't they call us in before?" asked Morgan with a clear disbelief in his voice.
"They didn't connect the murders until yesterday, when the Miller family was found dead in their sleep, at least according the local PD. They ran lab tests on the poison but failed to identify it. I say, and quote: 'We have nothing on the cause of death, seems like they all died of cardiac arrest during the night'" she said pulling up some photos of the five dead.
I quickly checked the test they ran on the bodies. The test were approximate, just like i expected. Nothing in common, except all kids were prescribed different antibiotics. While The adults some sleeping pills. Different brand. Nothing to think about.
"That's why Sofia is here. We need you to run some more identification tests on the bodies as soon as we land."
"No problem." I said, still looking down at the file, nodding.
"The rest of you, get your go bags. Wheels up in ten." with that said everyone left the briefing room, leaving me and Rossi alone.
"Hey, Sofy. Are you sure this isn't too much? You can still leave until we get to the jet. There is no shame."
Memories came flashing back in my head. No, they were locked up for a reason.
"I know." the whisper came out practically inaudible "But I got called here because I'm the best at what I do. I won't back up, not when we can save some lives."
He just smiled before heading out and I followed him but we he stopped me at the entry door.
"You know we have to talk abut it when we get back, right?" he spoke soundlessly.
I nodded, letting him talk. "Ok, let's go save some lives. You have no idea how much I've waited to do this with you, honey. You made it."
"I made it." I admitted to my self, however, it felt like lie. I accompanied my godfather to get his go bag and then we were advancing to the glass doors.
If I say that the team had a hella of a jet it would be underestimating how cool that was. I sat down at a table with Rossi, Derek and Prentiss. In the seats next to us rested JJ and Hotch. Reid settled on the sofa in the back. The flight wasn't long. All the profilers tried putting together a preliminary profile and I helped slipping in the occasional chemistry fact and some of my thoughts. After all, i studied for this, and i surely knew what i were saying. Before landing Hotch told us about what we would be having to do.
"Morgan and Prentiss, you go to the last crime scene. JJ, press is assaulting the PD. Me and Rossi will be at the police station trying to gather some information from a few whiteness. Martini, you go to the medical examiner and run all the tests you need, bring Reid with you."
I looked over to Reid before answering. His eyes were wide open and a frown created on his lips, not that I didn't do the same.
"Yes, sir."
As we landed there were four black cars waiting for us. As we approached them I went straight for the drivers side and before I could open it I felt Reid's hands on mine. I raised my head to look at him in the eyes. His eyebrows furrowed, wondering what I was doing.
