SOFIA

Monday morning was almost as exciting as the day I got to analyse in my lab that rare virus disease. I pooped off my bed and sprint to my wardrobe so I could get ready for my first day at the BAU unit. I threw on a pair of blue slacks and a white button-down. I looked professional and I didn't mind it. Before leaving my room I grabbed my go-bag to assemble it so I could leave it under my desk. Once that was done i went to the kitchen where the smell of freshly brewed coffee invaded my nostrils.

Last year me, Janet and some other friends went to Columbia to celebrate my birthday. When I was there I got the chance to drink the best coffee I have ever tasted. From then on I always bought my grated coffee beans from an old, yet ambiguous, Colombian lady. That powder and my Italian coffee machine made the best match. The cultural shock I had to face about coffee moving to America was devastating. I missed my coffee so much that I also bought a pod coffee machine for Ginseng witch, apparently, isn't a thing here.

"Stefano! You didn't have." I said as he handed me my thermal mug.

"No problem. I saw you had the same pod machine we had back at home so I made you your favorite. A long ginseng with milk, two tablespoons of sugar and an odd shot of espresso. After all those years I still have no idea ow you drink that. Can't you be a normal Italian and drink only the espresso in the morning?"

"Don't you dare speak a word about this fantastic beverage. When are you leaving?"

"Plane is at twelve. Won't see you for lunch. Sorry."

"Don't apologize, it's your job. You ready to go? If you gotta talk to Hotch we better go. Don't wanna be late on my first day. Come on." I hurried to get both my satchel and go-bag before addressing Olive and heading to my car, followed by Stefano in his rental.

The ride wasn't long. By the time me and my brother reached the elevator my hands were shaking. My first day. My first day of a life I wished i pursued before. A new start. A fresh start. Maybe I could finally find peace. This thought echoed in my head. Maybe I could be more useful than in the lab, but was I good enough for this?

When we arrived I saw Emily talking with Penelope and JJ. Before talking to my colleagues I just smiled when they saw me and went to Hotch's office. The door was ajar so I poked my head in.

"Sir, sorry to disturb. I have the paper work."

"Oh, hi Sofia. Sure, come on in." He said with his stoic voice. I obliged, followed by Stefano. I placed down the file on his desk, taking a few steps back when done. Once he noticed Stefano he furrowed his eyebrows.

"Aaron Hotchner? I am Agent Stefano Martini, from Rome's Interpol." My brother spoke handing out his hand.

"Oh, yes. They told me about an Interpol agent- he began, shaking his hand-Martini? Are you two sibling or...?" he trailed off, not sure what to imply.

"Siblings. She is my sister."

"Both Martini siblings are agents? Impressing." he added.

I smiled before opening my mouth. "I'll let you to it." with that I headed to the door.

"Sofia, wait."

"Yes, Sir?"

"Here." Hotch handed me a gun already in a holster and my badge. I felt thrill all over me. "You now are an official BAU agent. Prentiss will show you your desk."

I adjusted the gun on my belt and headed out. As i walked over to where the girls were i felt even better than before.

"O. M. G! Finally you are an official! If you check your phone you will see you already have been added to five different group chats."Garcia basically screamed.

"Congratulation Sofia. It's fantastic to have you on the team"Prentiss added as Garcia finished squeaking.

"Truly is. I can't imma-" JJ started but got immediately interrupted by a man heading over.

"sorry to disturb. Sofia, I'm heading out. Agent Hotchner didn't have all files in hand so i'll be coming over in a few months. I'll give you a call on the exact dates, but now I have to go. Spero di non dover prendere un albergo la prossima volta. [I hope I don't have to get a hotel next time]"

"Nessun hotel la prossima volta, promesso. [No hotel next time, promise]." While hugging him I saw the girls's faces so i released him.

"Sofia, Who is this piece of man?" Garcia questioned open mouthed.

"True. Hey, you should present yourself. These are JJ, Emily and Garcia. Your turn."

"Agent Martini. Interpol." those were the only only words he spoke, handing them his hand, whom all three shook reluctantly.

"Martini? You guys married?!"Garcia gasped drawing Derek's attention.

"Who's married?" he inquired heading over.

"Sofia!" she exclaimed.

"You married?" his eyes wide open.

"No, no, no, no. This is my brother. He came over from Rome's Interpol headquarter for work. I'm not married. I'm only 26, you guys are rushing, now- i turned to Stefano- From now on address yourself just as my brother. This happens way too many times."

That instant Rossi came in with Reid at his side, coffee in hand.

"Damn, Rossi. Didn't know you had a whole police department as a family. Who else did you hide from us? Do you have another one of them out there smarter than Reid and Sofia combined working for the CIA?" Morgan asked.

Both my brother and uncle glanced an instant at me and I brushed off the joke laughing uncomfortably.

"It was a pleasure meeting you. I have to get on the plane. See you soon. Bye Zio. Sofia." with that he went out the door.

"He is fineee" Garcia whispered loud enough for me to hear.

"Penelope! He's my brother!" I exclaimed, hearing muffled laughs in the background.

"I'm glad your having fun but I was waiting for you two to start the briefing. Round room in five."

Everyone sighed, going to their desks.

"Sofia. here, This is your desk. It was originally mine but since we couldn't fit it next to Reid's you had to take mine. I was moved next to Derek. Got a bigger one." Prentiss added while guiding me to my table.

"Thanks. But, why do I have to be next to Reid?"

"No one told you?"

"Tell me what?" I was getting worried.

"Every new agent needs to mentored by an agent whose been here for a while. Reid is your Supervisory Agent for the next two months. You are practically stuck to each other. Now, leave your things. Briefing is about to start."

Me and Smart Ass glued together for the beauty of two months? No, thank you. But could i complain on my first day of work? I guess two months with him is the price to pay to finally do my job. I let out a breathe and followed Emily to hear about the case.
