SOFIA

Before I could even open my eyes, the phone on my bedside table began to ring. Gez, who in the entire world would call another human being before six in the morning.

"This is Dr. Martini" I said, trying to hide the annoyance in my voice.

"Hey Sofia, this is Luke Tress." Luke Tress, aka my boss. I immediately opened my eyes and quickly sat on the edge of my bed. If he were calling me, I was doomed. "I need to ask you something. If I'm not mistaken you have a Ph.D.s in psychology am I right?"

"Um- Yes, sir. And a BA in criminal justice."

"Oh, i think i missed that part. I would like to offer you an incredible opportunity. This morning Erin Strauss, the BAU section chief, asked me for a well placed chemist to take part to a case with her team, and I recommended you, due to your excellent work. You obviously can decline the offer witho-"

"I accept the offer." I didn't even let him finish before i could respond. Working for the BAU had always been my dream. That's the reason I had a degree in psychology and a BA in criminal justice. I went to the FBI academy training and aced my physical and gun qualifications in no time but at the moment to apply, though, my hands couldn't even press the enter sign to send in my application. If i couldn't even press a button how could i save lives on the field?

"Perfect. You have to be on the thirteenth floor by seven, Aaron Hotchner will brief you on the rest. Prepare a go bag, you are going to leave Virginia. That's as far as I know. Paper work is going to be ready."

"Thank you, Sir. Just a thing. Could my lab remain empty? I don't like people roaming around, moving all my things. Lab 101." I asked hopefully.

"Sure thing, now get ready." and with that the call ended.

I was going to be on the team, the famous FBI team. Ecstatic isn't even the right term, because I was feeling... more. I worked my entire life for this opportunity and, now, it was right in front of me and I surely was going to catch it, even if it meant leaving everything behind. I quickly rushed to the bathroom to get ready. Hair up or down? Down. Black or purple turtle neck? Black. I wasn't used to really dressing up for work, since it would always be covered by my coat. I gathered some essentials and shoved some nice clothes in my go bag before rushing to the kitchen. I poured some coffee in the mug that I literally chugged, got my heals on and dashed to the car.

My heart was beating faster every second I was closer to the thirteenth floor. The elevator doors opened to busy entrance. I slid open the Glass entrance to reveal the busy bullpen. It was full of movement, sound, full of life. I stamped a smile across my face before heading to SSA Hotchner's office. Take a deep breath, Sofia. you can do it. with that said i knocked on the door waiting for an answer.

"Come in" said deep voice, and I obliged. I entered, closing the door behind my back, blocking out the sound.

"Hi, sir. I'm Dr. Sofia Martini, i was called by Luke Tress for a role as a Chemist consultant on one of your cases." I tried my best not to stumble on my words.

"Ah, yes. I'ts a pleasure to have you here, I'm SSA Aaron Hothchner, but everyone calls me Hotch. Please, have a seat." gesturing to one of the two chairs in front of me.

"I've seen your curriculum. You have a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Psychology and Foreign Languages and Litterateurs. Also two BA's in Toxicology and Criminal Justice. Am I right?" he asked, holding a file.

"Yes, sir. Currently working on my third BA in English Literature."

"Well, that's impressive. How old are you?"

"I'm 26, turning 27 in a few months."

"Even more impressive. Since you are here I guess you already accepted the job. We will be out of Virginia for some time, hope it's not a problem.

"No, sir."

"Perfect then," he said standing up "follow me to the briefing room, you can meet the team before starting the not-so-pleasant part."

As he left his office I followed him with my go bag still in hand. When we entered the room, six people looked in our direction.

"Everyone, this is Dr. Martini, she will be joining us on the case as a Chemist consultant." Hotch said gesturing to indicate me.

"You can call me Sofia, It's a pleasure to meet you." I added, smile om my face.

"Sofia, nice to see you hanging by this floor, finally." The voice came from a man in the back, making his way to the front. Rossi.

"It is. how are you doing, David?" i said hugging the familiar figure in front of me.

"You know her?" asked a man quite annoyed. He was black, with a bowling ball instead of a head, but i obviously didn't say a thing. Even though I should have.

"Oh, yes. I'm her Godfather." Shocked heads turned to look at us. "She's my second wife's sister's daughter. Italian to the core. I see that you finally decided to join me up here and leave that lab of yours." I just smiled in response.

"Wow, that was a shocker. I'm Jennifer Jareau. Call me JJ" said a woman with blonde hair holding out her hand for me to shake.

"I'm really sorry, but I don't shake hands. I have a thing with germs." I tried declining in the most professional way I could. She just smiled and sat back on a chair at the round table.

"Yo Reid, haven't we found your female version, or not?" said the Bowling head to another man sitting across from him. I looked in the direction he was talking to and let my smile fade at the sight of the familiar person. He was that fucking know-it-all from last night. He just looked at me without saying a thing and i did the same. How could he come in my lab and say that my test results were wrong. How dared he. After that event, he surely was on my black list.

"Are you also some sort of genius?" said again the man.

"I'm not a geni-" but before i could finish, Rossi took my place.

"Stop being modest. She is. Come on, tell them." he urged.

"Fine. I have three Ph.D.s. One in Chemistry, Psychology and another one in foreign Languages and Litterateur. I have two BAs in Toxicology and Criminal justice, currently working on my third in English Literature." I said, looking at Rossi to see if that is what he wanted me to say. I usually didn't like to brag, but he liked to show me off.

"Tell them your IQ." he asked me.

"What? Why? I don't think it's something they'd wanna know."

"Ohh, trust me. It is. What's your IQ"

"187" I hesitantly spit out trying to figure why they even cared. They all looked at me and then at Reid, red from embarrassment.

"Rossi, Where the hell were you hiding her?" said a woman with black hair. "I'm Emily Prentiss. You can't even understand how nice it is to have you with us."

"Derek Morgan, and same here." said the bowling head getting up form his chair and heading next to Reid. "Trust me when i say this, kid. She is your fucking soulmate."he whispered in his ear, but loud enough for me to ear.

"Shut it, Morgan." said the 'kid' shoving away the laughing Derek.

"Hi, it's so good to have you on our team. So happy to have another girl, here. Penelope Garcia, tech analyst, at your service. Expect to be added to a girls group very soon. We Should go out to a bar s-" she was starting to talk so quickly i thought she could set her mouth on fire. Luckily JJ stopped her before that could happen.

"Well, now that we got all the introductions of the way we can start the briefing." sighed Hotch letting JJ take his place in front of the TV.

"Get ready everyone, this a bad one."
