I trailed behind her as we entered the building. We went up together but not a single word passed between us. I'd have to come to the conclusion that she's a very quiet closed off person.
Once we got upstairs, the whole place seems to be hard at work. No one was really talking.
"What do you do here?" I asked her.
"It's a luxury goods import and export business." Lola explained. "The typical things that aren't normally sold here, we import and export things."
"Okay, that's interesting...not something I imagined you ever doing."
She turned to me properly and halted our walk. "What did you imagine me doing?" She asked lowly.
"I don't know," I shrugged. "Something a little more illegal, like everyone else." I said.
Her lips twitched in a smirk for a moment before it disappeared. "The only kind of illegal I do is race, that's enough for me." She said as she looked between my brown eyes.
"Okay, if you say so." I shrugged and she kept walking to the more open offices.
She knocked on a door and inside sat Jasmine and Charlie along with another woman who had black hair and brown eyes. She was gorgeous.
"Lo, hey." Charlie greeted Lola. "And Nova, what's up?"
Lola turned to me. "These are your people, know them, trust them. These ones you can trust. You need people in your corner when shit hits the fan." She said sternly.
"Why is shit hitting the fan?" I asked.
"It's not but things go wrong with what we do, it doesn't hurt to be sure." She said and turned to walk away.
"She's right Nov, just come in," Jasmine said.
I walked into her office and sat on a chair on the opposite side of her desk to the woman who I assumed was Leah while Charlie sat on the couch next to the window.
"Anyways, Nova is racing tonight. In the greatest Nissan I've ever seen. If she doesn't come first I'll cry. The horse power on her car is everything." Charlie said and a small smile spread across my lips.
"Oh really?" Leah asked softly. "Sorry, I'm Leah, normally Lola's assistant but I'm their friends when she's out." She said as she introduced herself to me.
"Nova," I said. "Good to meet you."
"You too," she smile softly.
