A brand new plan has been made since the night raid incident had happened. They decided that Peter would battle Miraz, one on one. But in case it backfires, there'll be a full range of respective armies. But three people will have to bring the message. Edmund is well-known for using his words cleverly, but one of them is going to be Glenstorm due to his calm nature and yet the other one is unsure. At first, they thought Reepicheep was a good idea (but he's quite known to fight first, and then talk later kind of fellow), then Wimbleweather (but he was still recovering from the terrible night raid), and after a few talks and debates, Nora had finally decided to go along with Edmund and Glenstorm on Hope. The rest were hesitant at first, but Edmund and Glenstorm both agreed to her.
As they went to deliver the message while holding out their peace-branches, they met General Glozelle and some of the soldiers at the camp. Nora could tell that General Glozelle was amazed at the sight of them from the look in his eyes, he carried hidden awe for both King Edmund and herself.
That's when King Edmund introduced himself to the General Glozelle. "I am Edmund, by right and prescription King of Narnia under Aslan and Knight of Noble Order of the Table. I bring a message from my royal brother, Peter, High King over all Kings of Narnia and Knight of the Most Noble Order of the Lion, to Miraz, sometimes styling himself King of Narnia."
It took a long moment before Glozelle managed to summon the courage to answer. "I am General Glozelle. King Miraz will hear your message at his royal pavilion." Though that was all Miraz had meant him to say, Glozelle added an oath from the old stories. "Our royal King grants you safe passage in our camp. No harm shall come to you nor your companions whilst the negotiations between our two parties convene beneath the heavens, so sworn in..." Glozelle slammed his mouth shut before he spoke again. "So sworn by the king."
He soon took them to the pavilion of Miraz and the Telmarine lords. After introducing the ambassador, Nora and Glenstorm listened in curious amazement as King Edmund read out his older brother's challenge to single combat from outside of the pavilion.
Nora held back a wince as she overheard Miraz began speaking and incorrectly addressed the ambassador, who the general had only introduced a few moments before. "Tell me, Prince Edmund..." Edmund's polite correction forced Nora to hide an amused smirk, even it was a little puzzled. "Pardon?"
"It's King Edmund, actually. Just King, though. Peter's the High King. I know, it's confusing." Nora valiantly struggled to keep herself from laughing at the sound of the meeting. There's a boy around her age, surrounded by Telmarines led by a king known for his ruthlessness, and he was mocking King Miraz!
While King Edmund and Miraz continued speaking, Nora watched as a group of wary and curious Telmarines coming towards them to see them. But she noticed that many of them were like the people from the Telmarine Castle when they caught sight of her rescuing the originally trapped Narnians a few nights ago. Many of them were stunned at the sight and others were amazed at the sight before the them while a few others were scared to see that the stories of the past were coming back to haunt them.
"Should we speak to them?" Glenstorm asked her quietly.
"I don't think so," replied Nora softly. "Let's just watch them."
But walking of the group of gathered Telmarines was a brave little girl. Nora's eyes widened at the sight of the young girl. She has long brown hair and bright green eyes while wearing a light orange dress. Half of the Telmarine Army was terrified of them, but this little girl wasn't.
"Lily!" exclaimed one of the Telmarines worriedly.
Nobody moved a muscle as Lily carefully walked towards the two Narnians. They watched as she slowly and yet surely walked towards Nora's direction. She glanced at Glenstorm uncertainly, who looked confused as she was. She made sure Hope stood still so she wouldn't accidentally hurt the innocent, but brave little girl. Lily soon wrapped her arms around Hope's left front leg. Everyone was stunned at the sight before them. A little Telmarine girl was hugging the First Warrior of Old Narnia's steed.
Nora glanced at Glenstorm and back at the girl, puzzled by new situation. "Um... This is new."
Glenstorm seemed a little confused at the sight, but a faint gleam of amusement entered his eyes before he returned to his stoic demeanor. It was pretty unique and amusing to see such a fierce Warrior of Narnia was having her fearless steed being cuddled by a little Telmarine girl.
Once her father had gently escorted her away from Hope, the Telmarine soldiers soon went back to work. The father of Lily met Nora's eyes and gave her a quiet nod to her before he walked away with his daughter.
Glozelle escorted King Edmund and the others to the edge of the Telmarine camp. "Your Majesty, may be assured that none will bother you while you return to your encampment."
King Edmund bowed his head cordially. "Thank you, General Glozelle. Your honor is a credit to your race if not, may I be so bold as to say, to your lord."
Not able to disagree, Glozelle only nodded grimly back to him. King Edmund focused intensely on Glozelle's face and the Telmarine tried not to shift nervously, but Nora caught sight of it. "General... May I offer a word of advice?"
"Of course, Your Majesty," replied Glozelle.
The young Narnian King stepped closer to Glozelle and spoke so that only the general could hear him. "You are a leader of soldiers. Take care what battles you lead them into: to take them into a battle you know is unworthy is worse than holding them back in the face of the ridicule of your peers. You are a servant of the Telmarine crown. Take care that the one who wears the crown is worthy of it... And that your fellow servants share your same dignity." Brown eyes blazed and the small group forced back the impulse to kneel before the young King's noble face. "Follow Aslan and you will have the mercy and true honor you seek."
Glozelle could not speak, only bow his head as King Edmund strode away, back to the shelter known even to the Telmarines as Aslan's How. Nora gave a slight, but impressed smile to Edmund's wisdom to the servant of the Telmarine and intelligence regarding Telmarine culture. She remembered the mischievously intelligent boy that she grew up with many years ago (both in Earth and in Narnia). But she's proud to see new wisdom and justice coming from the young King of Narnia. And he might inspire those who needed it.
