There had been a flurry of events that lead the captors to this place. Sollux's mother dying, Mituna falling in love with his younger brother, Sollux falling in love with his big brother, the Fireworks Festival, Mituna forgetting, Latula taking over. It had lead them to this inevitable moment. Mituna Captor feels like he's being haunted as he walks towards his destination. He can't help but shiver when he hears his ringtone. He stops and looks at the tree house from afar, shaking. He had not brought his phone. The sound of this ringtone seemed almost faint now as it rings out.
'"He called. He fucking called..."'
Mituna turned on his heel with wide eyes trying to spot the source of the sound, but found nothing. He quickly hurried along not wanting to stick around, soon finding himself starring up at a beautiful tree house that seemed like a blur to him. He remembers laughter, the boom of color over head and...and...A smile. More specifically, the smile. A smile that he feels like he saw once long ago in a dream, one that was far to perfect to be anything other than a dream. But as he stands in front of a past he can't seem to grasp, it seems almost to vivid to be even that.
"'Tuna, you're crying."'
He flinches again, where were all of these coming from? It sounded just like his brother, but he wasn't anywhere in sight. Curiously, he lifted his hand and rubbed his eyes, only to find that yes, in fact, he was indeed crying. How had he not even noticed? Why would he be crying? Mituna takes a deep breath, doing his best to be brave as he shakily makes his way up the tree house, unsure of why he feels like there's a weight in his chest.
When he finally gets to the porch of the tree house, he can't help but close his eyes as he lingers by the door to get inside. Laughter, he can hear the echo of laughter again. A flash of his father, Damien, Meulin, everyone laughing. Mituna pushes the door open to the tree house, flinching at how his steps seemed to echo in the empty room. He could almost /smell/ the popcorn. His feat take him through the tree house, retracing steps to each room without any guide. There was a white screen, he closes his eyes again. A smile, a look, from Latula? next thing he knows, He can actually see himself and Sollux heading towards a window.
Mituna gasps and runs after the ghosts of himself and his brother, and when he catches up, reaching out to touch it, the swirl and vanish. Mituna's eyes dart around frantically. What was happening to him? Had he actually been here before? he was scared, he was curious, he was so confused. His chest hurts and he swears he can hear fireworks. Mituna peaks out of the window, takes a breath, and carefully stepping onto the platform below. It looks rather beat up now, the weather must have torn it up, he would have to ask for help from his father with replacing it-
What was he talking about? He's never been here. He needs to just go back and rest. Maybe drink some hot tea to calm his nerves or something. Mituna shakes his head, preparing himself to turn back but just finds himself climbing up the tree. He's startled by how he knows what to do and where to go, he almost slips up on the last step, but manages to grab on the next branch, and just hangs there a moment calming down from his silent panic. Mituna pulls himself up onto a small stair case towards the roof.
As he takes each step, he can't help but smile fondly at memories he didn't believe.'"Where the hell are we going?"'
'"Jutht keep going! You'll thee. Thith is the latht part."'
He reaches the final step, the soft thud of the wood seems to echo, much like his steps into the tree house, and there he is. Laying on the right half of a large wooden platform. Sollux stares up at the cloudy sky as the cold nips at his nose. His right arm is thrown over his middle, his left reaching towards the middle as if grasping something.
Mituna can't help but think he's beautiful.
Mituna hesitates, stepping onto the platform, which seems to grab Sollux's attention. He sits up quickly staring wide eyed at his brother, a thousand questions running through his head, a small frown grazing his features.
"How did you...?"
Mituna says nothing, but sit's by Sollux and looks up, shutting his eyes. The clear night sky, the green leaves, the red and blue fireworks... He opens them again and looks over at Sollux.
"Hi."
Sollux just shakes his head and lays back down with a snort.
"Hey."
Mituna closes his eyes again, taking in the scent of the woods around them as a snowflake lands on his nose.'"Do you like it?"'
'"This is amazing!"'
'"Thankth! Latula helped me thet up."'
The air was cold, it began to snow. Sollux looked over at his older brother with a skeptical look. How had he known to come here? How did he even know to /look/ up here? Perhaps he didn't need to know. For now, this was nice. Sollux looks back up to the sky, and finds himself letting his hand lay in the middle like before, closing his own eyes, remembering the warm sun, and even warmer lips touching his own, once upon a summers night.'"I love you."'
'"I love you too."'
When Sollux opens his eyes, he's smiling. It's warm, it's real, and so his his hand. He peers over to his hand, only to find another that had laced itself with it. Sollux blinks surprised and looks up at Mituna, who has a rather stupid looking grin on his face.
"I knew that thmile belonged to you."
Mituna found himself scooting closer, the cold seemed to vanish as he wrapped an arm around Sollux, pulling him close. Sollux can't help but peer curiously at him, unable to wipe the smile from his lips.
"What exactly are you talking about?"
Mituna doesn't know how to explain. He doesn't know whats moving him, what drives him, he doesn't know why he knows he's been here before or why he can't help but see a perfect reflection of love in Sollux's eyes. Mituna's lets his flutter shut, his forehead gently rests against Sollux's, and as their lips touch, he can't help but think Sollux tastes like home.
