Your day began just about when it ended, you getting about 5 hours of sleep and groaning at the 8bit sound of your alarm begrudgingly rolling over and slapping the screen of your phone as if that would magically silence the sound. This only succeded in your charger coming undone from your phone and it slapping face first on the floor. You groan louder in irritation managing to sit up and give a weak glare to your surroundings, making sure you were indeed actually where you were meant to be. You pick up your phone and note with dull happiness that it did not infact crack. You set it back on its charger and turn the bedside lamp on, cringing at the new light. You gather your clothing and hop in the shower washing yourself and scrubbing your hair. When you jump out you change and blowdry your hair for reasons you are not entirely sure about.
It's not like you were actually going to style it. Either way what was done was done and he yawned before walking into the kitchen thinking of actually grabbing a snack, but then deciding that there would probably be something consumeable and more appealing later. He packed his backpack and threw on his button up jacket; red, blue, and black, before knocking harshly on Mituna and Latula's door silently hating the small giggles he heard from inside. "I'm off to school."
"See you later, little bro." Latula practically sang through the door. You never were one for violence, but you wouldn't mind wrigging her neck. "BYE THOLUCX" was loudly exclaimed by Mituna, which made you smile lightly, and head on out the door, slamming it as if saying goodbye. The walk there was rather uneventful, though he wasn't quite alone. There was a guy with a backpack probably going to the same place. When you actually ended up both in Mrs. Leijon's speech and english class, you decided to make small talk.
The kid was named Dave, and apparently knew Karkat and his stoner friend. You remember fucking thanking the heavens above when Karkat said he was going to the same college as you. After an entire class period nagging and teasing each other, you both silently agreed you were more friends than awkward acquaintances now. First day and you already made a friend to walk to school with. Score one for the socially awkward guy who just stays on the computer all day.
You actually were invited over that weekend to spend time with all of them. You think it will make a nice break from hearing Latula's voice echo throughout the apartment with such a braggy tone. If Mituna was still in his right mind, you would know that he would agree with you. He'd get in with playing pranks on her.
But he wasn't your Mituna anymore.
He wasn't yours in heart, and he wasn't yours in head. It was frustrating to no end, but you would cope. You had in the past, hadn't you? You walk back into your apartment, throwing your bag on the kitchen table and preparing dinner, just mac&cheese, for them all. The loud videogame music circulated through the apartment notified him that they were both ignoring any duty they had. He sighed and sat down spreading his homework out on the table.
"Dinner is ready!!!"
There is a shout of joy in return as Mituna skitters out and jumping onto his stool beside you. You spare him a smile and a hair ruffle that makes him laugh and he plows through his food that you had set out for him. Latula comes out moments later giving you a smile and kissing Mituna's cheek, successfully wiping the smile from your face. She grabs her food and eats it with a smug look. You work diligently on your homework trying to ignore the two but it became a bit of a struggle when Mituna started breathing on your neck watching you.
" wath you doin?"
"Homework." Was all you replied, you didn't want to give any effort to going in depth. Its not like it would matter. His face scruntched up and he seemingly thought for a moment before speaking.
"Wanna p-play gameth with me and Tula?"
You open your mouth to reply, planning to agree to spite her and finally be able to enjoy his brothers company, when Latula cuts him off with a no and a shake of her head.
"Sollux aren't you going to be late for work?"
As much as you hated to admit she was right. You had taken up a job at the local 'nerd store' as you liked to call it, and took the later shifts so it wouldn't get in the way of school. Someone had to pay the bills around here, and Mituna was deemed unfit to work after his accident, thankfully his job sent a check every month. They would for another few before no longer sending checks and making sure Mituna was well off. It helped pay the rent, and Latula chipped in only when absolutely necessary. You know she's good at heart. You wonder what made her go sour.
You sigh and nod hoping down from your stool and clearing your homework from the table. "Sorry, Mituna. Maybe next time." He frowned and watched as you headed back towards your room. You shut the door changing into your work clothes and grabbing your keys shutting the door behind you with a mumbled, "Be back later." To say you were miserable was an understatement.

Back inside Mituna sighed starring at the closed door in which his brother left. He wasn't as happy as he used to be. But to be honest was he ever happy? He felt terrible that he had forgot his brother st first but he managed to scrap together some memories. He remember him being quiet when he first came back from David's...But he remembers Sollux smiling at him. Where were they? A lake? He remembers Something...something about a treehouse...laying under fireworks.
"Hey babe, you okay?"
Mituna was dragged from his thoughts and nodded at his girlfriend of three months.
"I'm fine Tula! Jutht thinkn..." He shrugged off the subject and went to the couch turning on the TV, Latula curling up at his side. Whatever happened at the treehouse didn't matter now anyway. If he couldn't remember it must not have been worth his time.
