Dad just laughed and wiped his mouth.
But just then it hit me and I became depressed
"Mom I'm done with men. Men are scum no offense Dad" He laughed "But Ipha's proof that Men are really scum again no offense Dad" Ipha threw his fries at me. Wonder how they got there.
"Dear I know you're hurt and all but do you really wanna live the rest of your life alone??" Dad asked
"Yeah dear give yourself one more chance. Who knows?? Even if he's not the one he may lead you to the one"
"I guess..... Louisita what'd you think??"
She was too busy munching on fries no wonder Mom calls her Munchkin

"Go for it sis." I nodded then redirected my attention to Mom as I passed Dad the file for approval.
"When do we meet??"
"Tomorrow afternoon. Remember that you can always reject him dear I guess but give him a try ok??"
I nodded and finished up my dinner.
"I'll go up next " I said grabbing the file once Dad had approved.
Ipha and sis had followed different directions and gone first. I was climbing when I heard some whispering
"Archer we owe them a lot I really hope it works out."
"I will not pay my loan with my daughter's life. We'll keep on selling my properties till we pay back"
I ran up and collapsed on the bed. As I began undressing I thought : Why do parents always do this?? They take loans and expect their children to repay them. I have my own business to run I don't need anyone else's debts to interfere.
Anyways let us see how tomorrow will be.

I was about to doze off but then I remembered the inauguration speech I had to deliver tomorrow so I groaned and phoned Jessie Daniels my friend
"Hullo??"
"Halo prepare an inauguration speech for me J."

"Ok let's Skype so you can help me get this done"
"Better anyways how've you been??"
"We just partied hard today"

After screaming "Men are scum" with me almost everyday she still fell for non other than the jerk Ipha my half brother. Who am I kidding?? I was also going on a date tomorrow wasn't I??
"Anyways there is a new development"

I picked up the file Dad gently tossed to my side of the table.
"That's Makiri. Cherry's replacement. Her parents don't want her at all so I'm sure she won't give you any trouble."

I had told Dad all Cherry had done and he almost cried

"We only have each other now and I can't believe because of marriage I led you to the hands of a crazy woman. Your mother will be laughing at my failure"
I laughed at that
"Firstly Dad crying doesn't suit you. Now secondly Mom left us years ago I doubt she cares if I live or die"
"Yeah you're right. She left us for Hollywood buh at least she left us some good money weekly and some fame since we're connected to her."
"When last did you hear from her??"
"Um last year she had recently given birth" he said sadly
"I know you love her buh Dad instead of focussing on my marriage focus on remarrying."
"You know I still hope that-"
"It's been years Dad"
"Son I-"
"You're the best Dad I know but you always keep thinking you need a woman to fill in the gap. Ok maybe but it can't be Mom Dad it can't be her!"
He avoided my gaze
"You should move on"
He nodded and said "You should look at this"
Then he gently tossed the file to my side of the table.

"She has your file but I doubt her parents will let her see it. Like I said they're in a hurry to get rid of her"
"Dad....."
"Just give it a try son please" I nodded and we reclined on our chairs sipping some Mora.

"Never thought the day would come where Dad would let me eat and drink in his home office"
"That's why I had you drink some Mora for Morals"
We laughed.
"When are we to meet??"
"Tomorrow afternoon." Then he sat up and became serious so I had to mimick him
"You have to be nice to her Enrique she's been through a lot and even if she isn't the one find a way around it but don't hurt her ok??"
I nodded "You have my word Dad"
We re-reclined and continued sipping some Mora.

Tomorrow afternoon could work seeing I had an inauguration speech to offer tomorrow morning.
"Dad...."
"It's ok go work on your speech. Leave the old man to relax."
"Which old man?? I don't see him"
He glared at me as we laughed
"But seriously tho I won't be long"
He nodded waving me off.
Beneath all that cheerfulness lies a broken man I know but what I do not know is what exactly broke and how to fix it.
"Why are you still here??"
I smirked and jogged out

Makiri's POV
After downing my meds I got ready to see Anthony. Nimi's husband Anthony had a big ICT firm so yeah she fell for a tech guy. Anyways she had several meetings today considering she had spent all day with me yesterday so we couldn't meet which made today the perfect day to meet Anthony and express my gratitude.
I got dressed and got my gift ready. Just a small box of stationaries. I couldn't think of anything else and I hoped he'd appreciate it.

I got in after checking the car and drove off.
