Since his eyes weren't on me I took that time to breathe and continue

I wasn't sure what you'd like so I picked the black colour and picked stationary since you have an office.
I hope you like it and I know that I'm not the best friend for your wife but thank you for letting us still be friends after marriage."
"Makiri why're you crying??" (I didn't even realise) He asked and came to hug me "Makiri you are not just Nimi's friend you're my friend too even though we're not that close.
And as for your gift I'll forever appreciate it ok??
You had it customized for goodness' sake. It's lovely ok?? Thank you"
I nodded then pushed him away.
"I'm keeping my coke bye."
I said as I snatched the coke and ran off embarrassed. He just chuckled as I left.

Makiri..... It has a nice ring to it you know. Staring at her one last time before leaving Ant's office I saw how beautiful and full of etiquette she was. I admired her from afar.
I was about to ask for her number but then I paused when Anthony came in. It was for the best though seeing that I would soon be married off to Leilani anyways I guess so I'd rather just give her some space.

Leilani's POV
I didn't want to do this. But I breathed and re-breathed and re-breathed. When I was stable enough I heard my name among the dignitaries.
"Miss Leilani Jordan, PHD; CEO, Model, Ambassador you name it. Successful in almost every way.
Miss Leilani Jordan please permit us to welcome you to the High Table for the Inauguration of Rock spring Resort"
The crowd cheered and I walked in. People kept on staring and at first I was proud but then again it became weird and that was when I realised.
I HAD JUST WALKED INTO A FORMAL OCCASION DRESSED LIKE A BADDIE!!
SHIT!!!
I was in to hear it from Mom but it's too late so I raised my shoulders high and finished the surprisingly long walk to the high table with pride. Not before catching someone somewhere staring at me with amusement.
'Humph! Whatever!!' I thought flipping my hair

Enrique's POV
She was distabilisied for a bit but then she rebooted herself. Badass hmmmmm I like.
Something about her seemed familiar. Leilani...... Hmmmmmm

Just then I was called too by the flirtatious MC
"Mr Enrique Sulvana, PHD, CEO, Industrialist, Ambassador, Wealthy but most importantly Handsome......... "
I smirked as she forgot herself on stage and I caught Miss Badass rolling her eyes. Hmmmmmm
I coughed 'awkwardly' and smiled "Miss"
"Yes......" She said dangling her loose hair strands
"My introduction...."
"Ah yes sorry sir" she blushed "Mr Enrique Sulvana please permit ME to welcome you to the High Table for the inauguration of Rock spring Resort"
The crowd swooned as I ascended and coincidentally my seat was next to Leilani's.

Soon the inauguration got boring seeing as the first speech was being made by the owner a 70 year old man who slurred. I couldn't imagine being in a board meeting with him so I put my 3rd secretary Damien incharge of all that.
It wasn't long till I heard Miss Badass groan
"Bored already??"
"We meet again Enrique and yes I'm bored. I don't even wanna be here" she said smoothening her jeans.
I could tell she was nervous
"You'll do great I know"
Again she looked at me like I was the first one to notice.
"I had hoped that the next time we meet we'd get to talk but I guess it can't be today" I said 'sadly'
She rolled "You're immature like very very immatur. Do you know that??"
"I know."
After some minutes of silence I added
"I wouldn't mind meeting you again tho"
"Hmm maybe" she said "we would have to schedule that"
I was about to ask for her number when she was called by the Flirtatious MC for her speech. I grabbed her hand and squeezed it reassuring her. Then I let go before it'll be said that I'm a creeper. You know women and their exaggerations.

Just then I got a message from Eva my 1st secretary reminding me of my meetings. To meet up I'd have to leave immediately after my speech. Then again I remembered my date. But.. but what about Leilani?? Oh bummer!!! I pouted.

Leilani's POV
I started the speech well but then I inserted some baddie jokes only me and one other person got and then I jumbled up everything and then finally ended it.
The first person to applaud was Enrique and that too on his feet which resulted in me getting a standing ovation.
Turns out he was also the other person who got my jokes. I almost teared up. But before we could talk he was called up.
I didn't even get the chance to reassure him like he reassured me. Sigh!

But seeing him speak so eloquently on stage it seemed he didn't actually need it. I was lost in his voice when I heard
"Ladies and gentlemen please permit me to leave you guys as I have so much going on right now. Honestly it's been lovely having you guys here and I'm looking forward to being among the first few to actually lodge in this Resort...."
