Becky's POV:

Two months had passed since Freen moved in with me. Every day, I made sure she felt loved and cherished. Her smiles grew more frequent, and her laughter became music to my ears.

Now, I wanted to introduce her to my closest friends, Irin and Nita. We planned to meet at Bistro Bliss, a cozy restaurant with a warm atmosphere.

As we waited, Freen's nervousness was palpable. I held her hand, offering reassurance.

Irin arrived first, her bright smile illuminating the room. Freen relaxed in her presence, engaging in effortless conversation.

But then, Nita's voice pierced the air, sending Freen's demeanor into a tailspin.

Freen's eyes widened, her face pale. She froze, her grip on my hand tightening.

"Freen, what's wrong?" I asked, concerned.

But she didn't respond. Her eyes glazed over, lost in a horrific memory.

Suddenly, she jerked away, bolting from the table.

"Freen, wait!" I called out.

As Freen fled, Nita's smirk caught my attention. I felt a surge of protectiveness toward Freen.

"Nita, what's going on?" I asked, my tone firm.

Nita's smirk vanished, replaced by a mask of innocence. "What do you mean?"

"You know exactly what I mean," I pressed. "Freen ran away the moment she heard your voice. What's between you two?"

Nita shrugged. "No idea. Maybe she's just dramatic."

I narrowed my eyes, skeptical. "Don't play dumb, Nita. I saw your smirk."

Nita's expression turned cold. "Mind your own business, Becky."

I left Nita and Irin, following Freen to ensure her safety.

Outside, Freen leaned against the wall, gasping for air. Her eyes were wild, her face pale.

"Freen, breathe," I whispered, wrapping my arms around her.

But she was beyond consolation. Her body shook, panic consuming her.

"Freen, come back to me," I urged, holding her tight.

Suddenly, she crumpled, her knees buckling. I caught her, lowering us both to the ground.

"Freen, I'm here," I whispered, rocking her gently.

Her panic attack subsided, replaced by tears.

"What happened?" I asked softly.

Freen's voice trembled. "Nita... her voice... it's the same voice."

"The same voice from your past?" I guessed.

Freen nodded, her eyes haunted.

I held her close, offering comfort.

"We'll face this together," I promised.

Freen's gaze met mine, filled with gratitude.

"I'm sorry," she whispered.

"Never apologize for your pain," I replied. "You're safe with me."

As we sat together, I knew I had to uncover Nita's secret.
