Chapter Eleven

Phillip didn't mention the day before all day during school, and I was glad. I think if he would've brought it up I would've swung at him.

Instead, he brought up a party that he was going to have tomorrow night, since it was Saturday, and his parents would be gone.

"If you have a chance to come... I think you should." Phillip winks, a stupid grin on his face as he nudges me in the shoulder.

But my mind was elsewhere for the moment. All day, other than Phillip's party, everywhere I looked I swear I met his gaze.

I don't know why. I mean, just this morning I threatened to murder him if he ever brought something up to Phillip again, but...

Why the fuck is he looking at me like that?

It makes me feel small and weak, and I don't like it. It pisses me off.

"Earth to Travis. Is anyone in there?" Phillip pokes me in the forehead, and I swing my head to glare at him, and he simply chuckles. "Sooo.... Party?"

"How exactly do you expect me to go to the party?" I ask, raising a brow as Phillip stops to think.

"Well... Uh... If he goes to sleep, sneak out. Or... If he leaves for the night to go on a date or something, then you'll be golden! Or uhh... I dunno!" Phillip shrugs, his hands flying up as he does.

I shake my head, a small grumble leaving my lips. "If I have a chance to leave, I'll come by. But no promises."

Phillip cheers, throwing his hands up in the air, and I swear everyone in the cafeteria stops to look at us, making me even more annoyed about this whole day.

"Whoopsies!!! Sorry everyone!" Phillip smiles, shaking his head as everyone looks away, some people rolling their eyes.

"I fucking hate you, Phillip."

"I love you and me too."

~~~
Saturday afternoon, I could hear father talking to himself downstairs about going to have a date with some woman, so I knew that meant he was leaving soon, meaning that I'd be able to go to Phillip's stupid party tonight.
When he finally left is when I started to get ready for the party. And by get ready I threw on clean clothes and cleaned up my hair a bit before leaving.
Phillip had told me that the party wouldn't start until later in the evening, but knowing Phillip and the others in this town, it was already happening.
So, when I reach Phillip's house, and saw that there were already cars parked outside his house and people walking into the house, I wasn't surprised.
I stepped inside shortly after, the pungent smell of alcohol filled my nose instantly; along with the other mixed smells of perfume and cologne, and lots of other smells.
I made my way through the crowd, not so nicely, and stopped at the kitchen to grab a random cup of random alcohol before continuing through the crowd.
I was partially looking for Phillip, and partially just bumping into people to be an asshole, until I bumped into someone I really didn't want to deal with.
Fucking Larry Johnson.
"What the fuck?" He scowls before he turns to find out who bumped into him, then he becomes even more angry.
"Of fucking course it was you." Larry glares at me, and I glare right back.
"I didn't know freaks were allowed at the party. I would've stayed home if I did." I mock, and I try to focus on Larry, and not the two bright blue eyes next to him.
"Do you really want to fucking go right now, Travis?" Larry challenges, his hands balling into fists, making my heart speed up just a bit.
"I would love to. But, I don't want to cause problems for Phillip."
Larry laughs, rolling his eyes. "Sounds like you're in love with him. You gonna go suck his dick while-"
I couldn't help it.
I swung at Larry, my fist hitting him right in the jaw.
Larry stumbles back, and a few people gasped as they saw what happened.
My eyes suddenly dart over to meet the eyes that wouldn't leave me...
Then I fled.
I move through the crowd towards the back door, swinging the door open as I quickly step outside, the cool night air hitting me instantly.
I lift the plastic cup to my lips, downing the rest of the alcohol as in the trash can near the door.
Luckily nobody was outside since it was a bit chilly, and probably because there's no alcohol out here, or music. Just... Silence.
I lean against the wall of the house, covering my face with my hands as I sigh deeply. I'm a fucking mess, and I shouldn't of come to this damn party.
I pause as I hear the back door open and close, then eyes are on me.
I peak through my fingers before my hands drop from my face, my eyes meeting with his.
Why can't he just leave me the fuck alone?
"What."
"Travis-"
"No, Sal. Don't fucking start." I cut him off, warning him. But, of course, he doesn't listen.
He steps towards me slowly before pausing, my body tensing. "Travis," he starts again, "I don't want to cause problems with you."
"Then why can't you just leave me the fuck alone, Fisher?"
"Because I understand you."
I laugh harshly, shaking my head. "You don't know shit."
"I know what you're going through."
His words make my heart stop.
What?
No.
He doesn't know me.
"What?" I try to sound calm, but my voice betrayed me, the word coming out a little more panicked than I meant.
"I know because I used to-"
I smile, my hand running through my hair. "Used to." I repeat.
He continues anyways, as if he didn't even hear what I said. "I used to go through the same thing. Sometimes, I still do. I don't know how bad it is... But I understand you, Travis."
Something inside me breaks.
