Calixa's POV

"So you're telling me, a gorgeous 17 year old Calvin Klein model is your best friend, and you haven't hit it?"

"No! And he's not a model."

This girl is crazy. Asher Wryly, huh? I think I know him. OH YEAH! He's in my enchanters' class. He's pretty good actually, for an enchanter.

"Yeah, so he's in your enchanters' class? A.P. right?"

"Yeah hun, he's pretty hot if you asked me. You better get em before princess does."

"Princess?"

"Lolita, tall, long hair, green eyes, goodie-two-shoes, boring as fuck."

"She's not boring. She's just, ya know, like Amethyst."

I got up and walked to her bedroom door. "Like I said, boring." I walked downstairs to the door and told Ravyn's grandmother bye.

"See ya Ravyn! Going to a concert."

"Concert? Who?"

"The Neighborhood."

"Oh my gosh! Yes! I'm coming!"

I chuckled at her enthusiasm. "Well, I guess I can drag you along." Ravyn ran upstairs to get dressed then someone knocked on the door. "Should I answer that, Mrs. Obsidian?"

"Sure baby, just call me Obi. Make sure you and Ravy lock the house up. I'm going to bed honey."

"Uhm, okay." Did she just say Ravy? Oh my gosh...that's adorable. I open the door to a tall, tan, curly haired boy with red-ish, orangey eyes.

Asher's POV

When the door opened I saw a girl with jet black hair, pale skin, and blood red eyes. I mean RED irises. But she seems familiar for some reason. "Who are you?" She smirks.

"Hi Wryly, long time no see."

"Uh, do I know you?"

"Can't you recognize your own classmate Asher?" Ravyn said coming downstairs in a black skin tight crop top, military green skinny jeans, and black spiked heels.

"Oh hell no!"

"What's with you Wryly!? My grandmother IS here!" Ravyn whisper-yelled and shut the door behind her pushing me, her, and dead girl outside.

"WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU WEARING RAVYN? You can't go out like that!." I shifted my gaze towards the other chick. "And who is this?!"

Calixa's POV

"Calixa Douglas, nice to meet ya." I stretched my arm out to shake his hand and he looks at me funny... oh shit, maybe he heard.

"Yeah," he finally said and shook my hand. "I'm Asher."

"Great! Now that we all know each other, let's go Cali!" Ravyn grabs my hand and tries to pull us to my car but Asher stops her, dammit kid.

"Can I talk to you Ravyn? Alone." She rolls her eyes and tells me to wait in the car.

"I'll be in Carla." She nods her head and turns to Asher. This can't be good.

Asher's POV

"Ravyn, you shouldn't be hanging out with that girl. I don't trust her, just look at what you're wearing! Where are you guys going away?"

"Okay, first off, this outfit came from MY CLOSET. Second, we're going to a concert. Third, why do you care so much? Aren't you here for your date with Lolita?"

Wait, what? Where is all of this coming from? Why is she so confusing? Does she want me to date Lolita? "What do you mean 'date with Lolita'? I didn't even know she'd be here!"

"Oh come on! You know she and Amethyst study together all the time! I wasn't planning on going out tonight, why didn't you ask me to tutor you if you didn't wanna see her!?"

"I never said that! I just didn't think she'd be here and our study sessions don't help me!" I immediately wanted to take my words back. "Wait Ravyn, I didn't mean-

She holds her hand up signalling me to stop talking and I do. Knowing Ravyn, by now that was my best option. She stares at her feet while squeezing her fists. I messed up big time, again. She finally looks up and I try to reach out to her, but she steps back.

"Whatever Asher, I'm going out, go kiss her or whatever you wanna do. I'm sure that will help you pass linguistics better than I will." She walks off, jumps into Calixa's car, and they drive off. Why did I say that!? Shit, if you can't do anything you can fuck over your chances Asher. She probably hates me by now. First I ditched her, and now I tell her she doesn't help me. SHE ALWAYS HELPS ME! I just can't get my mind off of her to actually study! And her sitting 5 inches from my face doesn't help. I could look at Ravyn all day, but now she doesn't want to hear anything I have to say...

"Yo, Asher!" Amethyst's voice breaks me away from my ongoing Ravyn infested thoughts. "You wanna pass linguistics or nah?"

Lolita then sticks her head out the door as well and smiles and waves at me. Dammit. I don't know what's worse, my fight with Ravyn, or that she ran off with Calixa.

I don't know what it is, but she rubs me the wrong way. Her presence gives me chills and not the good ones that Ravyn gives me with a single touch of her hand, but the ones they warn us about in our children's books and prayers. The ones we are trained to sense in battle. The ones that were exhiled a long, long time ago.
